motoxThe Moto X has launched and brought a new meaning to customizing your smartphone for those that want new colors and the chance to engrave their device.  Verizon Wireless also has the device for sale and according to reports, the device is about to get a new software update that will bring some nice enhancements.  Motorola has not released a smartphone worth talking about recently, but the Moto X has certainly changed that and is the first since Google picked up the Motorola Mobility months ago.  The improvements will be nice, but the most notable is likely to be to the 10MP “Clear Pixel” camera on the back side.

The Verizon Motorola Moto X is also available at a reduced sale price at select online retailers starting at $99.99 at select online retailers.

AT&T users have reportedly been able to download the software first and initial reports have been coming in a positive tone so far.  Those on the Verizon Wireless are not typically treated to updates quite as fast as other companies, but after the initial testing it appears that the company can have the update going out within a few days.  Starting this week the software will start to roll out and should be on all of the Verizon Wireless devices in a few short weeks.

The software for the Moto X handset includes improvements to the camera software, including quality, focus, lighting and colors.  Voice actions for Google Now should make the popular app faster, more accurate and even more responsive once the new software is installed.  Those on other networks have said nothing but good things about the software, which also includes a host of smaller bug fixes and tweaks.  Motorola and Verizon Wireless have improved on the call quality and fixed the choppy audio that some were complaining about recently.  There is also an expiration date on your 50GB of free Google Drive that will be added once you install the update.

If you have not picked up the new Moto X yet, Verizon Wireless just added a promotion that dropped all prices for Motorola Droid phones down $100.  The discount has not hit the Moto X yet, but some are expecting it to very soon.  The fully customizable options for the Moto X will be coming to those on the Verizon Wireless network very soon.  Users on the AT&T network have been able to enjoy those options for a couple of weeks already and have had nothing but good reviews about the process. You can also purchase the Verizon Motorola Moto X handset at a discounted price tag at select online retailers starting at $99.99.
