motorolaThe Moto X hit the market this year and shook things up a little bit becoming one of the first smartphones that you can customize in more ways than one.  Users that want the Moto X in a different color, different accents or a custom wooden back cover, can get that through the Moto Maker which is available for each of the mobile carriers in the United States.  Shortly after the original Moto X hit the market, there were rumors about what the second generation model was going to offer.

The Motorola Moto X is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $0.01 – $449.99.

The wait could be over as Motorola confirmed this week that the Moto X 2 will be coming this summer to replace the original model that has been the topic of many positive reviews.  Motorola Mobility confirmed the new smartphone via Twitter this week and now that the company was sold to Lenovo from Google, it does not look like much is going to change.  It looks like those interested in the second generation model will be able to get a good look at it in “late summer”.  Motorola plans to keep those interested posted about the new smartphone, but at least they confirmed it was coming.

The Moto X brought some innovation to the market and was one of the first with the Android 4.4 KitKat software installed on it.  One of the many features the Moto X offers is always on voice commands for Google Now, which works even when the screen is off.  Active Display is another feature that allows for notifications and the time to be displayed on the lock screen.  This feature will save battery life and will not require the user to unlock their phones to see the time or any important notifications.  Hand gestures are also part of the features that help load apps like the camera much faster.

Since Motorola was sold to Lenovo, there has been little indication as to what consumers can expect from the company, but the odds the customizations will still be available are very good.  With more options coming to the Moto Maker Design Studio, it would be foolish for Lenovo to stop offering it since that really made the Moto X what it is today.  With better displays and more camera technology available these days, time will only tell what the second generation could offer.

The Motorola Moto X is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $0.01 – $449.99.
