The Galaxy Nexus 4G Android smartphone brought the then much-anticipated Ice Cream Sandwich Android operating system 4.0 to a US smartphone for the first time when it arrived in late December of last year. This December, the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G has a Jelly Bean gift along with a reduced sale price during the Amazon Wireless sales event. That handset is retailing for around $19 on contract, and delivers the most out-of-the-box, built-in data storage, a large high-resolution screen, and simultaneous voice and data access on the brand-new Sprint 4G LTE system.

South Korean manufacturer Samsung began a series of great selling Galaxy devices when they debuted the Galaxy Nexus 4G last year, and nearly a year after its arrival the handset still performs at the high end of the smartphone marketplace. And thanks to the arrival of the speedy and new Sprint 4G LTE network, and the Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system, the Galaxy Nexus 4G is now even quicker and more powerful than before. Jelly Bean 4.1 provides a smoother and faster user interface, better camera operability, and an improved Google Now contextual search.

One of the first handsets to deliver Near Field Communications (NFC) access out-of-the-box, the Galaxy Nexus 4G delivers a full 32 GB of built-in, user accessible data storage as part of its hardware package. Also included is 1.0 GB of RAM system memory, and a speedy 1.2 GHz dual core central processor. A separate GPU handles all graphics requests, and a Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 set of chips is present as well. The handset can deliver up to 12.0 hours of talk time from a single charge when used in Sprint 4G LTE coverage areas.

YouTube and Picasa applications have been pre-installed into the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G, and the built-in music player can filter your favorite music selections by album title, artist name or play list. The handset delivers active noise cancellation, supporting hands-free voice calls and voice memo recording, as well as multiple voice commands. The display on board the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G is a large 4.65 inch Super AMOLED model, with a high-end resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels.

That display delivers a pixel density which ranks among the leaders in the smartphone marketplace, at 316 pixels per inch. An oleophobic coating gives the display scratch resistance, and the handset is capable of 1,080P HD resolution video capture by way of its rear facing 5.0 megapixel camcorder. The Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G also delivers a front facing chat cam which offers video call support and portrait snapshot capability.
