Online wireless retailer Wirefly recently dropped the price of their Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G Android smartphone to $49 on contract, right in time for the holiday shopping season. That handset is capable of simultaneous voice and data access on the brand-new Sprint 4G LTE network in the US, allowing you to browse the web or check your e-mail while in the middle of a voice call. As one of the first handsets to deliver Near Field Communications (NFC) wireless access out-of-the-box, the Galaxy Nexus 4G also delivers the most out-of-the-box, user accessible data storage.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G for Sprint is available at Sprint authorized online retailers for a reduced holiday price tag now starting at 49.99.

32 GB of data storage is present, and the Galaxy Nexus 4G was the first handset to deliver the then widely anticipated Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0 operating system to a US smartphone. It is only fitting that the Galaxy Nexus was also the first in the US to receive an over the air transfer operating system upgrade to the 4.1 Android Jelly Bean OS. Approaching its one year anniversary of availability in the United States, the handset still delivers one of the largest displays, one of the highest resolutions and one of the thinnest profiles of any 4G smartphone.

Exceptionally thin at only 0.37 inches (9.47 mm), the Galaxy Nexus 4G runs on the Sprint 4G LTE system which was launched only a couple of months ago. Sprint has announced plans to have more than 100 major Metropolitan markets on their 4G LTE network by the end of the year, and the Galaxy Nexus 4G will run on that speedy wireless system powered by a dual core 1.2 GHz CPU. Also in the Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 microchip package is a separate chip which focuses exclusively on graphics processing.

A full 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, and as much as 9.0 hours of talk time can be squeezed out of a single charge of the 1,850 mA battery found on the phone. YouTube and Picasa applications have been preloaded, and the built-in music player filters by album, artist and play list while supporting all major audio file formats. The 4.65 inch Super AMOLED screen delivers a high-end pixel density of 316 pixels every inch, for an overall display resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels.

Video capture is provided at 1,080P HD resolution on the rear facing 5.0 megapixel camcorder, and a front facing chat cam provides video call functionality. That rear device is equipped with a built-in LED flash and offers autofocus and image stabilization features, and Google is present in the form of Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail and Google Talk. Voice memo recording, voice dialing and other voice commands are also supported, and the Galaxy Nexus for Sprint offers active noise cancellation, and a dedicated mic.

You can purchase the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for Sprint with free shipping and a reduced price tag now starting at 49.99.
