Originally arriving on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States Way back in December of 2011, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G was a landmark phone for several reasons. It delivered the Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0 operating system out-of-the-box for the first time to a United States handset, and also offered another 4G-best feature with 32 GB of built-in data storage. The handset also offers one of the largest high resolution displays found on any smartphone while keeping dimensions as small as possible, and delivering one of the thinnest 4G smartphones to date.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus for Sprint is on sale at select authorized online retailers now starting at 49.99.

All those high flying features have now made their way over to the Sprint 4G LTE network which was debuted last month, and Sprint is adding more than 100 major Metropolitan markets to that system by the end of 2012. Simultaneous voice and data access will allow the Galaxy Nexus user to surf the web or check e-mail while in the middle of a voice call, and the fact that the handset is offered by multiple competing wireless networks is a beautiful thing. Because of that competition, wireless online retailer Wirefly recently lowered the price of their Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G to around $49 on contract. That gives the handset a bargain bin retail price tag, while it’s features and performance are still favorably comparable to other high-end smartphones.

The Galaxy Nexus 4G was one of the first smartphones to deliver Near Field Communications (NFC) connectivity out-of-the-box, allowing for retail payment processing through applications like Google Wallet. Wireless data share through apps like Android Beam is also possible, and the hardware package on board the handset includes a 1.2 GHz dual core central processor and graphics specific GPU as part of the Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 microchip suite the Galaxy Nexus offers.

The handset also offers 1.0 GB of RAM system memory, and up to 7.50 hours of talk time are offered from a single charge of the1,850 mA battery on board. YouTube and Picasa applications have been pre-installed and are ready for use out-of-the-box, and the handset contains a built-in music player which supports all major audio file formats. The 4.65 inch capacitive multitouch screen is one of the largest to be found on any smartphone, and that super AMOLED display delivers a high-end resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. That is offered at the extremely high-end rate of 316 pixels per inch, and more than 16 million colors are present in visual displays.

The Galaxy Nexus 4G for Sprint has a chat cam facing the user which provides video call support, and on the back of the handset is a 5.0 megapixel camcorder. That rear snapper can record video at 1,080P HD resolution, and offers a built-in LED flash. Google integration is present throughout, with the Galaxy Nexus 4G for Sprint offering Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail and Google Talk applications pre-installed.
