Verizon recently lowered the retail price of their Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G Android smartphone at select online retailers, as that previously exclusive device for their 4G LTE network has seen competition in the United States arrive in the form of the Sprint 4G LTE network. Sprint just recently launched their brand-new 4G LTE system in the United States, aggressively pricing the Galaxy Nexus 4G on that wireless platform. Verizon responded by lowering the retail price of the Galaxy Nexus 4G which was the first smartphone in the United States to deliver the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system. The Galaxy Nexus 4G delivers one of the largest high resolution screens in the entire smartphone marketplace, a speedy dual core processor, and high resolution video capture.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus for Verizon is on sale now at select online retailers starting at $49.99.

Out-of-the-box the handset delivers ICS version 4.0.4 currently, and Near Field Communications (NFC) wireless technology is present. That means support for retail payment processing wireless applications like Google Wallet, and wireless data share apps like Android Beam. Physically, the Galaxy Nexus is one of the thinner 4G smartphones available, and officially made its debut on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system way back on December 15 of 2011. Designed physically similar to most current smartphones in the familiar candy bar form factor, the handset measures only 0.37 inches (9.47 mm) in thickness.

The large 4.65 inch touchscreen on the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus is one of the bigger displays found on any smartphone, and the display resolution offered lies at the high end of the smartphone marketplace. Pixel density runs 316 pixels per inch for an overall screen resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels, and more than 16 million different colors are used to render visual displays. An oleophobic coating offers scratch resistance, and standard multitouch, capacitive gestures are used to navigate the handset.

Verizon offers the largest 4G LTE system in the United States, and on that network their Galaxy Nexus 4G Android smartphone can offer up to 12.00 hours of talk time from a single battery charge. A 1.2 GHz dual core central processor joins a graphics specific chip in the Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 microchip package, and the 32 GB of built-in, user accessible storage offered out-of-the-box is the most found on any smartphone. The Galaxy Nexus 4G contains 1.0 GB of RAM system memory, and the handset supports voice dialing, voice memo recording and other voice commands. A VGA quality chat cam faces the handset user, and the rear facing 5.0 megapixel camcorder provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution.

Buy the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for Verizon now starting at $49.99.
