Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G Offers 4G LTE, 720P Display For One Penny

galaxynexusWhen the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G Android smartphone arrived in the US originally, it was exclusive to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system. But on April 22 of last year, the best-selling Verizon phone made its way over to Sprint. At the end of 2012, Sprint built their first ever 4G LTE network in the US, effectively giving the Galaxy Nexus 4G a speedier network to run on. That handset also received an upgrade to the Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system, rejuvenating the handset even more.

Recently the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G was spotted in the Amazon Wireless retail store at the nearly free retail price of $0.01 on contract. The new Jelly Bean 4.1 OS update provides a much smoother and more efficient user interface, and delivers an updated Google Now. The new 4G LTE system for Sprint currently has more than 30 major markets in the US, and is expanding rapidly. Sprint promises that network to be completed by the end of 2013.

Simultaneous voice and data capabilities are possible with the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G, meaning that you never have to interrupt voice call to browse the web, download an app or check your e-mail. One of the first handsets to deliver a large 720P display in a slim form factor, the Sprint Galaxy S III measures only 0.37 inches (9.47 mm) in thickness. The display is large at 4.65 inches, with pixel density and resolution running high for a 4G smartphone.

Display resolution on the Galaxy Nexus is 720 x 1,280 pixels, with pixel density running 316 pixels per inch. A scratch resistant Oleophobic coating protects the screen against chipping and scratching, and more than 16 million colors can be found on that Super AMOLED display. Standard capacitive, multitouch gestures are supported for device navigation, and the built-in light and proximity sensors help deliver up to 8.0 hours of talk time from a single battery charge.

The Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G offers NFC wireless support out-of-the-box, and delivers a generous 32 GB of built-in data storage. A Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 microchip package powers the handset, built around a dual core 1.2 GHz Cortex A9 CPU. 1.0 GB of RAM memory is also present, and a rear facing 5.0 megapixel camcorder provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution. Video calls and video chats are made possible with the front facing VGA quality chat cam.
