With an official October 3 announcement that wasn’t needed because unofficial leaks had already been made all over the Internet, the LG Optimus G was proclaimed for a November 11 launch date in the United States. The Sprint 4G LTE system will be the home of the new LG smartphone that delivers a 13 MP camera with voice activation, 2.0 GB of RAM memory and a powerful quad core processor. The Sprint ID app is also on board, and the handset offers Near Field Communications (NFC) support out-of-the-box.

The LG Optimus G is available for pre-order now starting at 149.99.

With a unique appearance, the bezel and body match your LG Optimus display when the screen is off. The Sprint ID software gives you the ability to customize your handset by selecting a Sprint ID profile that you can install, full of preselected apps, widgets, and other items. Sprint currently has 59 available profile packs so far, catering to several different interests. These include country music (CMT), pop music (MTV), sports (ESPN, Fantasy Football) and others.

The LG Optimus G for the Sprint 4G LTE network offers the Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0 operating system out-of-the-box, which meshes with the LG Optimus UI v3.0 Android overlay. The handset is slim at 0.33 inches (8.45 mm) in thickness, and weighs 5.11 ounces (145 g). The display on board is one of the largest found on any smartphone at 4.70 inches, and delivers a True HD IPS+ display. At a high end pixel density of 318 pixels per inch, that works out to an overall 1,280 x 768 pixel screen resolution.

At 13.0 hours of talking time provided from a single battery charge, the LG Optimus G 4G delivers much better than average 4G battery performance. The handset’s hardware package is complete with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 chip set, and at its core is a quad core Krait central processor which has been clocked at 1.5 GHz. An Adreno 320 GPU is also on board for graphics processing, and the handset delivers the most out-of-the-box, built-in data storage at 32 GB. A full 2.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, as mentioned above.

With a 13.0 megapixel camcorder integrated into the back of the LG Optimus G, you get approximately 60% more megapixels than the standard smartphone with an 8.0 megapixel camcorder. That rear snapper can be voice activated, and delivers autofocus, digital zoom, a burst mode, panorama mode, exposure compensation and other customization features. Recording video in 1,080P HD resolution, it is joined in the camera combo by a front facing VGA quality chat cam. The built-in music player offers Dolby Mobile sound enhancement, and the handset comes with a built-in YouTube video player.

You can pre-order the LG Optimus G at a reduced price now starting at 149.99.
