The LG Optimus G offered by Sprint during the annual Amazon holiday sale is currently sale priced at $99 on contract. The phone arrived on Sprint’s new 4G LTE system in mid-November with a sleek black chassis that sets it apart from the other Android look-alike phones. The Optimus G optimizes Google by providing the Chrome for Android web browser, Car Home, Gmail, Maps with Navigation, Search, Shopper, and YouTube applications. And the handset provides battery conserving Power Saver and Eco-Mode features.

The LG Optimus G is available for a reduced price tag now starting at $49.99.

Sprint has chipped in with their Sprint ID access for the LG Optimus G, allowing you to customize your handset with preselected widgets, applications and other items. You simply choose one of the 59 available ID packages, such as sports (ESPN, Fantasy Football), music (Country Music Television, MTV) or other offerings, and you get instant access to a group of applications which belong to that theme. The handset also provides a nice Video Wiz feature that lets the would-be movie director edit video and string together photos.

LG added the Optimus UI v3.0 Android overlay that meshes with the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0 Android operating system, and the LG Optimus G for Sprint accepts standard multitouch, capacitive gestures. The handset is slim at 0.33 inches (8.4 mm), yet delivers one of the largest high resolution screens found on any smartphone. The True HD IPS+ Touch Hybrid Display runs 4.70 inches, with a resolution of 1,280 x 768 pixels (WXGA quality). The LG Optimus G protects that display with a layer of scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass.

Pixel density runs high at 318 pixels per inch, with more than 16 million colors present on that display. Talk time runs above average for a 4G smartphone, at 13.0 hours from a single battery charge, and the handset is powered by a quad core 1.5 GHz Krait CPU. The most out-of-the-box, built-in data storage is on board at 32 GB, and the handset delivers double the RAM memory of the typical mobile handset at 2.0 GB. At 13.0 megapixels, the camcorder built into the back of the handset has one of the largest megapixel counts of any smartphone camera.

That camcorder offers voice activation, a built-in LED flash, panorama mode, burst shot mode and several other special effects and customization features. Video is captured at 1,080P HD resolution, and on the front of the LG Optimus G for Sprint is a 1.3 megapixel chat cam. That front facing camera can be used for video calls, and the LG Optimus G provides Near Field Communications (NFC) wireless connectivity out-of-the-box.

You can purchase the LG Optimus G for a reduced price now starting at $49.99.
