LG Optimus G Sprint Release Date, Pre-Order Price, Specs

The LG Optimus G for the Sprint wireless network was officially announced on October 3, and the planned launch date on the Sprint 4G LTE system in the United States stands currently at November 11. The LG Optimus G is available at select online retailers for around $149 on contract. One of only a couple of handsets currently offered with 2.0 GB of RAM memory and a quad core central processor, the LG Optimus G trumps just about every smartphone camcorder with a 13 megapixel model. LG has stated that when the display is turned off, the body and bezel match the screen.

The quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 CPU gives the Sprint 4G LTE network a powerful system to access 4G LTE speeds. And at only 0.33 inches (8.45 mm) thick, the handset is slim as well as delivering one of the largest screens of any smartphone. That display runs 4.70 inches, and the IPS LCD delivers an extremely high-end pixel density of 318 pixels per inch. Overall screen resolution runs 768 x 1,280 pixels, and displays are rendered in more than 16 million separate colors. A protective layer of Corning Gorilla Glass offers scratch and chip protection.

The LG Optimus G 4G also delivers above average battery performance, offering 13.0 hours of talk time from a single charge. An Adreno 320 GPU handles all graphics processing, and the device delivers the most out-of-the-box, built-in data storage at 32 GB. That rear facing 13.0 megapixel camcorder comes with a slew of special effects and customization options like voice activation, auto focus, face detection, smile detection, exposure compensation, ISO control, white balance presets, burst mode, digital zoom, geo tagging and Panorama mode, recording video at 1,920 x 1,080 (1,080p HD). The handset delivers Near Field Communications (NFC) support for wireless applications, and DLNA wireless video out as well.

The Optimus G’s multimedia package includes a built-in music player with Dolby Mobile sound enhancement features, filtering by album, artist or play list. That music player also delivers background playback and album art cover, and a YouTube video player has been pre-installed. The popular Picasa application is also present, and the device can offer turn by turn navigation and voice navigation, with points of interest notifications. Office 2007 and a PDF reader are present, and messaging is supported in the form of SMS, MMS, threaded view and predictive text input (T9).
