Back when Motorola unveiled the Motorola Droid Razr M a couple of months ago, the handset was still running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. During the unveiling, the manufacturer announced that the handset will see a speedy upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Back then, a lot of eyebrows were raised because Motorola is a company not known to be very timely in the release of updates for the handsets in its lineup.

The manufacturer however was out to prove everybody wrong because in just two months after the Motorola Droid Razr M, the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is now being rolled out to the handset. Looking back, it was reported a couple of days back that the manufacturer was already in the process of putting the Jelly Bean update for the Motorola Droid Razr M through a soak test. It looks like everything turned out fine during the soak test that the manufacturer already saw it fit to have the update rolled out.

If you happen to have a Motorola Droid Razr M for your mobile weapon of choice, be on the lookout for the notification that will let you know that the Jelly Bean update has already landed on your device. However, due to the nature of OTA updates, the Android 4.0 refresh for the Motorola Droid Razr M is being released in stages so not all handsets will get it at the same time. So if you that little notification hasn’t shown itself yet or if manually checking for the update doesn’t return anything tangible, a little patience will go a long way. Just relax – that update will surely land on your Motorola Droid Razr M one way or the other.

The Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update will crank up the software version of the Motorola Droid Razr M to 98.12.4 and brings all the Jelly Bean-associated goodies to the handset such as Google Now, expandable notifications and enhancements through Project Butter. Aside from that, the update will bring changes to the design of the handset’s on-screen navigation buttons giving them a more Jelly Bean-ish look and feel.

As for the Motorola Droid Razr M, the handset was unveiled back in September together with the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD and Motorola Droid Razr HD to complete the triumvirate of Motorola’s new Razr devices. The operation of the Motorola Droid Razr M is powered by its QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset while the computing power it requires is generated by the handset’s dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and 1GB of RAM.

Storage space on the handset comes up to only 8GB but since the Motorola Droid Razr M packs a dedicated microSD card slot in its chassis, a user can easily expand the storage space of the handset so its meager internal memory shouldn’t be much of an issue here. In terms of its display, the Motorola Droid Razr M sports a 4.3-inch SuperAMOLED panel with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels while its camera department features a rear 8MP shooter and a front VGA snapper.
