As of the moment, the latest version of the Google mobile operating system is Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and this was unveiled at Google I/O a couple months back. This early, several devices have already gotten a taste of the Jelly Bean refresh starting with the Google Nexus devices along with handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy S III and tablets like the ASUS Transformer Prime and Acer Iconia Tab A700. Though it is great to see these devices get cranked up to Jelly Bean this early, it is a sad sight on the other hand that a handful of devices are stuck in the Gingerbread generation and are still waiting for the update that will give them a taste of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich almost a year after it was released.

However, if you happen to rock a Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G from T-Mobile, that wait for the elusive Ice Cream Sandwich update is about to come to a screeching end. This development materialized after the Magenta carrier updated its support page to announce that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update is expected to land on the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G starting October 3.

The update which will give the handset that tasty Ice Cream Sandwich dessert will also crank up the software version of the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G to T769UVLF4 and bring to the device not only the latest features associated with ICS but will come with features such as Mobile HotSpot and Email fix in tow. The update however is only being made available via Samsung Kies and not via the usual over the air (OTA) manner like the previous updates so you have to hook your Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G up to  your computer for the update process to get started.

Before attempting to initiate the update process, ensure that you have the latest version of the Samsung Kies software installed on your computer and your Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G handset should have at least 50% of juice in its power pack. One more thing, the Magenta carrier announced that your Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G should be unrooted, otherwise, the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will not push through. We know that already but it is a good thing T-Mobile saw it fit to remind us all.

As for the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G, the handset has its circuitry built around its QualComm MSM8260 SnapDragon chipset which brings to the device a dual-core 1.5 GHz Scorpion processor, a full gigabyte of RAM and a dedicated Adreno 220 graphics core for graphical matters. The storage space onboard the handset comes up to a meager 3GB only but since it has a dedicated microSD card slot for memory expansion and comes preloaded with a 4GB microSD card, the measly internal memory shouldn’t be much of an issue here. Display-wise, the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G sports a 3.97-inch SuperAMOLED panel with a 480 x 800 resolution while its camera department features a rear 5MP shooter and a front 1.3MP video chat and self-portrait camera.
