galaxynexusThe Galaxy Nexus 4G Android smartphone arrived on the Sprint wireless system on April 22 in the United States, delivering extreme Google integration. Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk and Picasa applications are present out-of-the-box, and the handset also offers NFC wireless support. Recently spotted at the Amazon Wireless end of year online holiday sale, the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G now retails for $0.01 on contract.

Experiencing a renaissance of sorts, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus now runs on the new, speedy 4G LTE network that Sprint launched just recently. That new network offers download speeds from 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps), as well as upload speeds ranging from 2 to 5 Mbps. That system offers multitasking, as now you can simultaneously access voice and data applications. You don’t have to stop browsing the web, downloading applications or checking your e-mail to answer and complete a voice call.

And joining that attractive one penny price tag is an upgrade to the Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system. Still offering one of the largest and highest resolution displays of any smartphone, the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G is also slim at 0.37 inches (9.47 mm). That display runs a large 4.65 inches, and is protected against every day wear and tear by a scratch resistant Oleophobic coating. Resolution runs 720 x 1,280 pixels, ranking the handset among the leaders in the mobile marketplace in that category.

More than 16 million separate colors are delivered at a rate of 316 pixels per every inch of display space, and standard capacitive, multitouch gestures are supported. The light and proximity sensors built into the display on the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G help conserve battery life while also offering auto dimming and auto brightness adjustment. The 1,850 mA battery on board the handset delivers at least 7.50 hours of talk time, and 6.2 days of standby battery power.

The handset contains a built-in music player, and supports hands-free voice calls, voice memo recording and other voice commands. Around the back of the handset is a 5.0 megapixel camcorder capable of 1,080P HD video recording, and up front facing the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G user is a 1.3 megapixel VGA quality chat cam supporting video calls. The handset is powered by a Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 microchip package, centered around a 1.2 GHz Cortex A9 CPU. The Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G handset delivers a full 32 GB of built-in storage, as well as 1.0 GB of RAM memory.
