Sprint LG Optimus G Release Date and Review

The LG Optimus G is set to launch with a tentative date of November 11 on the Sprint wireless network in the United States. Sprint debuted their virginal 4G LTE system about a month ago, and plans to add an extra 100+ major metropolitan markets by the end of the year. The handset was officially announced on October 3, and highlights include a 13.0 megapixel camcorder, quad core processor and 2.0 GB of RAM memory.

The LG Optimus G for Sprint also has a very large high-resolution display, and delivers tons of Google integration, such as the Chrome for Android web browser, Car Home, Gmail, Google Maps with navigation and YouTube. Sprint has also included their Sprint ID applications customization software. There are 59 applications packages available so far for the Sprint ID system, giving you the ability to customize your Optimus G with preselected widgets, applications and other software depending on the ID profile that you select.

The Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 operating system is present out-of-the-box, with the LG Optimus UI v3.0 Android overlay accepting standard multitouch, capacitive gestures. Dimensions run 5.19 x 2.71 x 0.33 inches (131.9 x 68.9 x 8.45 mm), and the handset weighs 5.11 ounces (145 g). The large 4.7 inch True HD IPS+ display offers an extremely high-end resolution of 1,280 x 768 pixels (WXGA), delivered at a high-end pixel density of 318 pixels per inch.

A layer of Corning Gorilla Glass protects both the front and the back of the LG Optimus G 4G handset, and talk time runs significantly better than the industry average, with 13.0 hours of talk time provided from a single charge of the 2,100 mA battery on board. The hardware package is anchored by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 microchip suite, with a quad core 1.5 GHz Krait central processor at its core. An Adreno 320 GPU handles all graphics processing, and 2.0 GB of RAM system memory are on board. 32 GB of storage have been built-in.

Around back is one of the highest megapixel count camcorders found on any 4G LTE smartphone, a 13.0 megapixel model. Voice activation and exposure compensation are a couple of the many customization features found on board that rear facing snapper. Video is captured at 1,080P HD resolution, with a front facing VGA quality chat cam also present, offering video call support. Near Field Communications (NFC) support is present out-of-the-box, and the built-in music player offers Dolby Mobile sound enhancement.
