Software update headed to the Verizon Motorola Droid Razr HD

If you happen to have Verizon for your wireless provider of choice and rock the carrier’s variant of the Motorola Droid Razr HD, then you should consider yourself lucky. After all, the handset is a very capable device that comes with fire-breathing components under the hood and all the capabilities it brings to the table are housed in one sexy, streamlined chassis. In addition to that, the handset is also one of the bestselling devices over at Big Red so you know you got a winner in the front pocket of your denims.

However, the good stuff does not end there and the best part is yet to come. The best part we are referring to is that the Motorola Droid Razr HD is about to get some software update love from Verizon and the confirmation comes for the changelog and details of the said update which are now posted in the official support site of the Wireless carrier. Sadly, there was no mention as to when exactly this software update will land on the Motorola Droid Razr HD but we expect it to hit the airwaves in the next couple of days.

Since the update is expected to get rolled out via OTA, you can expect a notification to come up on your Motorola Droid Razr HD once the update is already available to be taken advantage of. You also have the option of manually checking for the update by going to Settings > About phone > System updates > Download. The update weighs in at 96MB and will take approximately 8 – 10 minutes to download. In addition to that, the installation of the update on your handset will take about 8 – 10 minutes as well.

Once the update is applied to the handset, it will crank up the software version of the Motorola Droid Razr HD to 9.16.6.XT926 and bring the following goodies and treats to the smartphone:

  • Google Security Patches have been added for additional security
  • Data roaming fix has been implemented
  • Connection/disconnection detection has been improved when using USB
  • Improved Wi-Fi connectivity
  • Wallpaper options are shown when home screen icons are selected
  • Camera improvements have been made to touch-to-focus, notifications and low light performance
  • In-call audio routes to earpiece when connected to headset has been improved
  • Improvements to video streaming pixilation have been made
  • Media sync stability has been improved

As for the Motorola Droid Razr HD, the handset relies on its QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset to power its operation while a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor works in conjunction with a full gigabyte of RAM in generation the computing power required by the handset for a flawless performance. In terms of storage, the Motorola Droid Razr HD comes with 16GB of internal memory but this is still expandable using the microSD card slot of the device. Display-wise, the Motorola Droid Razr HD comes with a 4.7-inch SuperAMOLED panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Its camera department on the other hand features a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP video call and self-portraits snapper.
