The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD is the current flagship device of Motorola and was released by Verizon in US shores back in November 2012. The handset gained prominence because similar to its predecessor, the handset came with a 3300 mAh power pack in its chassis that gave it a battery life never before seen in a smartphone before. Not only that, being the flagship device of the manufacturer, the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD also came with an impressive resume of fire-breathing components under the hood. Because of this, the handset easily became of the more popular offerings in the Android lineup of Big Red.

However, those are not the only good things going on for the handset today. In fact, the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD is finally getting a taste of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean after being stuck with Android 4.1 since late last year. As it stands, Verizon is now in the process of rolling out the update to the handset so users of the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD can expect a notification in their handsets once the update is already available in their respective devices. Alternatively, they can also head on over to Settings > about phone > System updates > Download to manually initiate the update process.

The software update weighs in at 96MB and aside from cranking up the Android version of the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and bumping up the handset’s software version to version 9.16.6, the update will also bring a lot of goodies and treats to the handset. These are mostly bug fixes designed to further improve the stability and performance of the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD and these are as follows:

  • Google Security Patches have been added for additional security
  • Data roaming fix has been implemented
  • Connection/disconnection detection has been improved when using USB
  • Improved Wi-Fi connectivity
  • Wallpaper options are shown when home screen icons are selected
  • Camera improvements have been made to touch-to-focus, notifications and low light performance
  • In-call audio routes to earpiece when connected to headset has been improved
  • Improvements to video streaming pixilation have been made
  • Media sync stability has been improved

With all the goodies and treats that the software update brings to the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD, it is really advisable to have this applied onto your handset as soon as you can.

As for the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD, the handset has its circuitry built around a QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset and this SoC brings to the device a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a full gigabyte of RAM. The handset comes with 32GB of storage space but if this is not sufficient for your needs, this can easily be expanded using the microSD card slot of the handset. Display-wise, the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD sports a 4.7-inch SuperAMOLED HD with a 1280 x 720 resolution while its camera department features a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP video call and self-portrait snapper.
