When the Samsung Galaxy Note II was first unveiled by the Korean electronics giant a couple of months back, the second generation Samsung phablet was only made available in two paint jobs – grey and white. This is somewhat similar to the case of the Samsung Galaxy S III which was initially released in a two colorways as well – Marble White and Pebble Blue. However, since then, Samsung already released a couple of new colorways for its flagship device such as Amber Brown and Garnet Red among others while the Samsung Galaxy Note II was stuck with its same old paintjobs.

The Galaxy Note II is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $99.99.

As of the moment, it looks like the Samsung Galaxy Note II will not be made available in the same bright, bold colors of the Samsung Galaxy S III but word on the street is that the Korean smartphone and tablet manufacturer is planning to release the second generation phablet in a black paint job. This rumor suddenly became the talk of the smartphone town after one of our sources managed to get their hands on a leaked press render of the Samsung Galaxy Note II sporting a black colorway. With this in play, the black paintjob of the device gives the phablet a smarter look while retaining the textured look and its patent glossy coating.

No confirmation has been released by Samsung as of yet regarding this rumor but word on the street is that the black version of the Samsung Galaxy Note II along with other color variants of the phablet will be unveiled by the manufacturer at Mobile World Congress 2013 come February. However, CES 2013 is just around the corner so who knows, we might even get a glimpse of this new paintjob for the Samsung Galaxy Note II sooner than we expected – if everything pans out, that is.

Again, let us remind everybody that Samsung is yet to comment about these rumors and it would be best if you take this information with a grain of salt – a lot of it, actually.

As for the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II 4G, the handset reached official status when it was announced back in the latter parts of August and promptly hit the shelves a month later for public consumption. Under the hood, the second generation Samsung phablet is already running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for its operating system and this draws power from the handset’s Exynos 4412 Quad chipset. This SoC gives the phablet a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz and a staggering 2GB of RAM in its internals and this combination keeps the performance of the handset snappy and lag-free for that matter.

In terms of storage space, the Samsung Galaxy Note II was released in a 16GB and a 32GB model but similar to the Samsung Galaxy S III, the phablet has a microSD card slot for memory expansion purposes. As for its display, the Samsung Galaxy Note II packs a gigantic 5.5-inch SuperAMOLED HD panel with a 1280 x 720 resolution while its dual-shooter configuration includes a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.9MP video call and self-portrait snapper.

You can purchase the Galaxy Note II at a discounted price tag now starting at $99.99.
