galaxynote3The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is one of the most popular devices on the market that is not made by Apple and according to reports, it looks like the Android 4.4 KitKat software is starting to finally spread to more users.  The Exynos powered SM-N900 is the model being referred to in many reports from this week and last week which is when the update first started to roll out.  Typically, an update like this will roll out in stages with maybe 10 percent of the overall users getting the first look at it with that number rising each week until all of the devices have been updated.

Last week the Android 4.4 KitKat software first showed up on the international version that is running on the Snapdragon 800 processor according to some users in Poland.  Unbranded devices that work internationally are typically the first on the list to get any software update and now that the Exynos model is seeing the same, it is safe to say that the update is moving forward without any issues.  The reason for slow rollouts is so that the company can keep an eye on whether or not there will be major hassles for users once the software gets installed.

Many of the online sources reporting about the update have been tracking it for a few weeks now and as more users report the download notification arrived, they are reporting on it right away to keep others ahead of the game.  The update that is coming to the Exynos model is the same one that went out to the international models just last week and that includes all of the same features.  Because the update is an incremental one, there will not be massive changes to the overall design, however, it does build on the Jelly Bean foundation.

Samsung’s version of the Android 4.4 KitKat software comes with an improved lock screen, emoji support, switching between stock messaging and Hangouts, plus a better keyboard.  As of right now, it remains unclear as to when Samsung is going to get the same update to the Galaxy S4 users.  The first quarter is when the company announced that the software was coming, so that could be the end of March at this point.  The Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 are also expected to see the same update.
