The Samsung Galaxy S III without a doubt is still one of the best handsets in the smartphone market today. The handset boasts of a gorgeous exterior matched by fire-breathing components in its internals and these attributes has made the Samsung flagship device one of the most popular handsets in the smartphone competition today. In fact, the popularity of the handset has reached levels never before seen in smartphone with its sales figures breaching the 40 million mark since getting released during the latter parts of May last year.

The Samsung Galaxy S III is available for just pennies now starting at $0.01.

However, despite the seeming power it packs under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy S III is not a perfect smartphone – no handset ever is. In fact, the maxim in the smartphone world is that bugs and issues will always come up in a handset no matter how powerful its internals are. But, these bugs and issues can easily be taken care of by software updates and this is the case with the Sprint version of the Samsung Galaxy S III today.

If you happen to rock the Sprint variant of the Samsung Galaxy S III as your mobile weapon of choice, you should be waking up to a notification that an update has landed on your device. As it stands, the Now Network is now in the process of rolling out a minor OTA update to its version of the Samsung flagship device via OTA that will make the handset more capable that it already is.

Once applied to the handset, the update will crank up the software version of the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III to L710VPMA6 and will bring the following goodies and treats to the Samsung superphone:

  • Voicemail application update
  • SMS 3-digit support
  • Calendar sync issues

Granted that this is just a minor update, it still is a very important one so it is advisable to get this applied onto your Samsung Galaxy S III as soon as it becomes available. With that, be on the lookout for the notification that will let you know that it has already landed on your device or you can also do manual check for the update by going to Settings > About phone > System update > Update Samsung software > Check now to get the update process rolling.

As for the Samsung Galaxy S III, its operation is powered by its QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset. This SoC comes with a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a whopping 2GB of RAM which work together in giving the handset a snappy and stutter-free performance. The handset can be had in a 16GB and a 32GB version in terms of storage space but this can still be expanded using the microSD card slot of the device. As for its display, the handset packs a 4.8-inch SuperAMOLED HD panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its dual-shooter configuration boasts a main 8MP shooter at its back panel and a 1.9MP video call and self-portrait snapper at its front bezel.
