droidultraBoth the Droid Ultra and the Droid MAXX appeared on the Verizon Wireless network about three months ago and if you were patient enough to wait for your upgrade, you will soon be rewarded according to sources.  The two handsets were just discounted on the Verizon Wireless website and now you can get each of them at a savings of $100 each.  Motorola has plenty of options for you on the Verizon Wireless network, but if you are looking for extended battery life, larger displays and a sleek design, the Droid Ultra and Droid MAXX should be on your list.

The Motorola Droid Ultra can be purchased at select online retailers starting at $99.99, which is a savings of up to $100.

The Droid MAXX has some impressive specs and even though the 5-inch touch screen display is not 1080p HD, it still offers plenty of real estate to play around on.  Other than the 5-inch display, the phone comes with a huge, 3,500mAh battery that should get your through your normal day provided you are not streaming content all day long.  Since battery life is a very hot topic in the mobile world, it is nice to see smartphones offering more options.  Verizon Wireless also cut the prices for most of the Droid line, but did not comment as to what the reason was.

The Droid MAXX has a regular price of $299, while the Droid Ultra was priced at just $199.  You can also take a look at the Droid Mini, which is only priced at $49 with a new contract.  The Droid Ultra also has a 5-inch, 720p HD display, comes with a dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM.  On the back side of the phone is a 10MP camera with LED flash and auto focus.  The front side webcam is 2MP and works perfect for video calling and self portraits.

Verizon Wireless might have discounted the smartphones with hopes of getting an edge while competing with the new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C that was just released by Apple.  The devices might not be selling as well as the Moto X or the Galaxy S4 and that could be another reason for the discount.  Subscribers are not likely to complain about the price drop, but it does add some curiosity to the mix.  The Moto X has very similar specs to the Droid Ultra and MAXX, although that smartphone was not granted a price drop this time around.

You can purchase the Motorola Droid Ultra 4G for a discounted price tag starting at $99.99.

Or you can purchase directly from Verizon Wireless starting at $99.99.

You can purchase the Motorola Droid Maxx at select online retailers starting at $199.99, which is a savings of up to $50 over carrier prices. You can also order directly from Verizon starting at a price of $199.99.
