Verizon began rolling out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system to the Droid Razr M 4G last week, and that new operating system update delivers several upgrades. The Google Now contextual search and virtual personal assistant has been updated, user interface and camera operations are much more smooth and speedy, and the Jelly Bean OS provides a more clutter free appearance on the Android home screens. The Droid Razr M 4G is currently retailing for around $49 on contract during this year’s annual Amazon Wireless holiday sale.

The Motorola Droid Razr M is available for less than the cost of a cup of coffee now starting at $0.01.

The handset can function as a central Wi-Fi hub for multiple wireless devices, and you have your choice of black or white body color. The Droid Razr M 4G bears a scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass display, and delivers that 4.3 inch screen in the smallest and most compact, lightweight form factor possible. Measuring 4.82 x 2.40 x 0.33 inches (122.5 x 60.9 x 8.3 mm) and weighing 4.44 ounces (126 g), the Droid Razr M 4G is thinner, lighter and smaller than the typical 4G smartphone with a 4.3 inch display.

The 4.3 inch qHD Super AMOLED screen spans edge to edge with a nearly invisible bezel, and that delivers 40% more screen and less body space on the front of the handset than other smartphones with a 4.3 inch display. Resolution runs 540 x 960 pixels, delivered at 256 pixels per inch. DLNA video out is present, and the standard light and proximity sensors built in help conserve battery power while offering auto brightness adjustment. The Motorola Droid Razr M 4G accepts standard multitouch, capacitive gestures for device navigation.

Battery power runs to the extreme with a full 20.0 hours of talking time delivered from a single charge of the 2,000 mA battery that is 40% more powerful than that found on the iPhone 5. Standby battery power lasts approximately 17.0 days, and the hardware package on board the Motorola Droid Razr M 4G is anchored by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 set of microchips. 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, as is 8.0 GB of built-in data storage, with a microSD slot provided for storage expansion.

The CPU is a 1.5 GHz dual core Krait model, and a separate graphics specific Adreno 225 GPU is also present. Near Field Communications (NFC) support is present out-of-the-box, and a front facing VGA quality chat cam joins a rear mounted 8.0 megapixel camcorder in the camera combo. That rear snapper provides video capture at a pixel rate of 1,920 x 1,080 (1,080p HD resolution), with the chat cam offering video call support. A Bluetooth stereo music player is on board, and joins a YouTube video player in the multimedia package.

You can purchase the Droid Razr M for just pennies now starting at $0.01.
