droidrazrmReleased on September 10 on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network in the US, the Droid Razr M 4G does not have the largest screen found on a Droid Razr handset. It does not boast the highest resolution, or the best battery performance either, and it isn’t the skinniest. But what it does better than most 4G smartphones with a 4.3 inch screen is deliver a high resolution screen, high-end battery performance, and 4G LTE connectivity in a very compact, slim, light handset.

Battery performance for the Droid Razr M 4G is better than all but only a very few handsets, and those are Droid Razr models as well. With the average for a 4G smartphone running from 8 to 10 hours of talk time on a single charge, the Droid Razr M 4G doubles that. A full 20.0 hours of talk time can be had from a single charge of the power conserving 2,000 mA cell on board the handset, a full 40% better performance than the Apple iPhone 5 offers.

And by stretching that large 4.3 inch display from edge to edge and corner to corner, Motorola designers have delivered 40% more display and less body than most other 4G smartphones with the same size screen. The aircraft grade aluminum frame and Kevlar back plate surrounding the high-resolution touch screen make for body dimensions of 4.82 x 2.40 x 0.33 (122.5 x 60.9 x 8.3 mm) inches, and an overall weight of 4.44 ounces (126 g).

A special water repellent nanocoating is present, and Corning Gorilla Glass protects the screen against scratches and scrapes. The Droid Razr M 4G Android smartphone recently received an upgrade to the Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system, and the Chrome for Android web browser has been pre-installed. The Droid Razr M is NFC (Near Field Communications) capable out-of-the-box, with popular applications YouTube and Picasa pre-installed.

Verizon Wireless just last month was named the top wireless service provider in the US by respected consumer advocate Consumer Reports, and the Motorola Droid Razr M 4G runs exclusively on their 4G LTE network. The central processor on board is a 1.5 GHz Krait model, and an Adreno 225 GPU joins it as part of a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 microchip package. 1.0 GB of RAM memory is on board as is 8.0 GB of built-in data storage. A microSD slot provides storage expansion.

The 4.3 inch qHD Super AMOLED offers a display resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, with more than 16 million colors present on that screen. DLNA video out is present, and the Motorola Droid Razr M 4G provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution with its rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder. The handset also offers a front facing VGA quality chat cam, capable of portrait snapshot capturing video calls.

  1. “A FULL 20.0 hours of battery talk time on one charge”??!
Don’t believe the hype on long Battery Life !
My brand new Razr M went from 100% to 88%
    in 10 minutes of texting.
On another day, in 9 hours, when used for LESS than 10 minutes – it went from 100% to 12% !
    Now I am stuck with a 2 year Verizon Contract , a $35 re-stocking fee,
and a $200 price tag if I want to upgrade to the Razor Maxx HD which has longer battery life.
I am a survivor of Hurricane Sandy in hard hit Long Beach. N.Y.
and BATTERY life is critical to me. post Sandy.
