gs4bBack in the day when it first made its debut in the shelves, the Samsung Galaxy S4 instantly became a hit because of the seeming power it packs in its internals. This is not surprising at all given the fact that the handset is the current flagship device of the Korean smartphone and tablet manufacturer. The handset however, especially its 16GB variant, was heavily criticized because the storage it came with only had about half of its total memory set aside for user content while the rest is taken up by its operating system and TouchWIZ custom UI.

The Samsung Galaxy S 4 Black Mist is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $119.99.

Due to the complaints from the users of the handset, Samsung committed to coming up with a software update that will enable users to save apps on the handset’s SD card. In fact, this particular update is already rolling out to the international version of the handset and to the variant of the Samsung Galaxy S IV that made it to US shores via Sprint shelves. This time around, it is the turn of the Verizon variant of the Samsung Galaxy S IV to get a taste of the same update that will not only bring app-to-SD card support to the handset but bring in Samsung’s Knox security software in tow as well.

The new VRUAME7 update is now rolling out to the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 but is only currently available via Samsung’s Kies desktop application or Verizon’s proprietary Software Upgrade Assistant. No news yet as to when this 1.8GB update will get rolled out via OTA but as soon as more details become available, we will surely let you know.

Going back to the said update, Samsung Galaxy S4 users who have already downloaded and installed it said that the arrival of the update is a bit bittersweet. While the update brings the much-needed app-to-SD card support and Samsung Knox to the device, it will also break root access and any other exploit that enable users of the handset to have its bootloader unlocked. If you happen to have a Samsung Galaxy S IV from Verizon for your mobile weapon of choice and have rooted or have plans of rooting your handset in the future, it would be best to stay away from this update for obvious reasons.

Though this might be the case, nothing can change the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S4 is one pretty impressive device. Running Android 4.2.2 Jelly bean out of the box and powered by a QualComm APQ8064T SnapDragon 600 chipset under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy S IV boasts of a flawless performance thanks to its quad-core 1.9 GHz Krait 300 processor and 2GB of RAM. Available in a 16GB and a 32GB edition in terms of storage, those who need more storage space on the handset can easily have its internal memory expanded through the use of its microSD card slot. As for its display, the Samsung Galaxy S4 boasts of a 5.0-inch SuperAMOLED HD screen with a 1920 x 1080 resolution while its camera department features a rear 13MP shooter and a front 2MP snapper.

The Samsung Galaxy S 4 Black Mist can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $119.99.
