Since the advent of the quad-core powered handsets in the smartphone competition, manufacturers have all gone back to the drawing boards to come up with their own superphones with a quad-core processor under the hood. However, the honor of being the first ever smartphone manufacturer to deliver this type of handset goes to HTC. This is because the Taiwanese smartphone and tablet manufacturer came up with the HTC Edge as early as late last year when other manufacturers were still toying with the idea of quad-core monsters.
However, we all know now that the HTC Edge moniker was replaced along the way. In fact, it even got changed to HTC Endeavor at one point but that too was dropped. To cut the story short, the handset was announced as the HTC One X when the manufacturer took center stage at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona back in February.
Since then, the HTC One X became the toast of the town given the fact that it was the only smartphone of its type with a quad-core processor under the hood available in the market during that time. In addition to that, the handset also got glowing reviews which further enhanced its popularity and improved its marketability. Due to this, the reception of our smartphone-crazed brethren of the HTC One X was as hot as it can be.
In US shores, it was AT&T who got first dibs on the handset and renamed it as the HTC One X 4G when it was added to the carrier’s lineup of Android-powered devices. However, the version of AT&T is not a quad-core powered monster because the chipset of the original version of the handset doesn’t have native support for the LTE network of AT&T. Be that as it may, the AT&T version of the HTC One X 4G was still annonuced as the better handset because it got better benchmark scores than its international sibling.
And now that it is already being offered by AT&T, the HTC One X 4G has already taken the title of the best smartphone at the wireless provider. This is not surprising because of the impressive components and capabilities that the HTC flagship handset brings to the table.
The AT&T version of the handset as mentioned earlier is only a dual-core beast with its QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset. This SoC brings into play a dual-core Krait processor clocked at 1.5 GHz in addition to a full gigabyte of RAM. The storage space of the HTC One X 4G comes up to 16GB while its 4.7-inch display is of the SuperIPS LCD2 type with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The camera department of the handset is just as impressive with its rear-facing 8MP shooter capable of 1080p video capture and its 1.3MP front-facer.
