Though the Samsung Galaxy S III is considered as the most popular handset in the smartphone scene today, there are other handsets out there that are just as powerful and can actually give the Samsung flagship device a serious run for its money. In AT&T’s lineup of Android-powered device, we have the HTC One X 4G and this HTC flagship device can actually take the battle to the Samsung Galaxy S III and whoever comes out on top is anybody’s guess.

The HTC One X 4G is the AT&T version of the original HTC One X which when you come to think of it is the first handset in the world to be powered by a quad-core processor under the hood. This dates back to late last year when the handset was still in the rumor mills and still known as the HTC Edge. Back then, other manufacturers were still drawing plans of coming up with quad-core powered handsets but HTC already beat everybody to the punch by coming out with the HTC Edge.

The HTC Edge moniker did not stick though and this got changed a couple of times before the Taiwanese smartphone and tablet manufacturer settled on HTC One X when it announced the handset back in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The handset got another minor name change when it was added on to the Android lineup of AT&T where it ended as the HTC One X 4G. There is one glaring difference though – the AT&T variant of the HTC One X 4G only has a dual-core processor because the quad-core chipset found in the original version of the superphone did not have native support for the LTE network of the wireless provider.

Though this may be the case (and some would think that it is a disadvantage on the HTC One X 4G), the AT&T version of the handset is said to be just as powerful and even managed to snag higher benchmark scores when it was pitted against the original version of the HTC One X. Because of the seeming power that the handset has under its hood and the impressive capabilities that it come with, the HTC One X 4G remains as one of the best handsets being offered by AT&T as of the moment.

As for the HTC One X 4G, the handset has its circuitry built around its QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset and this SoC brings to the device a dual-core krait processor running at a clock speed of 1.5 GHz. Helping it out in delivering the computing power needed by the handset is a full gigabyte of RAM whilw the handset’s storage space is pegged at 16GB. Display-wise, the HTC One X 4G comes with a 4.7-inch Super IPS LCD2 panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its camera department is just as capable with a rear-facing 8MP shooter and a front-facing 1.3MP video chat camera.  The price tag of the HTC One X has recently be reduced.  In fact, the reduction is so enticing that we’re not allowed to advertise it on our site.  View the HTC One X reduced price tag here.
