htconeThe HTC One 4G Android smartphone finally arrived on April 19 in the US. The handset was anticipated due to its large high-resolution screen, industry-leading pixel density, high-end camera features and powerful quad core processor. Delivering the Android Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system out-of-the-box, rumors have sprung up on the website PhonesReview that an “unnamed source” has announced an upgrade to Android 4.2.2 “in a couple of months.”

The HTC Sense 5.0 Android UI delivers a BlinkFeed application that consolidates all of your social networking site information, and streams it directly in real-time to your home screen. Another unique feature is the ability to control your TV or home theater from the HTC one, using the Sense TV application. The exclusive Beats Audio sound enhancement package is on board with dedicated speaker and headset amplifiers, and the premium metal unibody design of the HTC one 4G includes dual front facing speakers.

The HTC One is powered by a Snapdragon 600 quad core chip which HTC promises is up to 40% more powerful than the Snapdragon S4 Pro, and an Adreno GPU focuses exclusively on graphics processing. A generous 2.0 GB of RAM system memory has been pre-installed, as has a full 32 GB of internal storage. The handset is also available in a 64 GB variant, and the 32 GB variant is currently available from Sprint starting at $99 on contract, and AT&T for $149 on contract at select online retailers.

The large 4.70 inch screen on the HTC One delivers an extremely high pixel density, offering more than 16 million different colors at the rate of 468 pixels over every inch of display space. This creates a Full HD screen of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels, and that Super LCD 3 display is protected against typical wear and tear by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2. The sealed 2,300 mA juicer provides up to 16.0 hours of conversation, as well as 8.5 hours of video playback, from a full battery charge.

The CPU mentioned above is part of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 APQ8064T system chip, the HTC one is NFC capable out-of-the-box, a YouTube video player has been pre-installed, and the phone also offers a Stereo FM radio with RDS display capabilities. The 2.0 Ultrapixel camcorder built into the back of the HTC one collects up to 300% more light than typical 8.0 and 13.0 megapixel smartphone cameras, and does so with a highly advanced CMOS image sensor and optical lens system. Video is recorded on that rear snapper at 1,080P HD resolution, the camcorder can also snap up to 20 quick images with a single shutter button press, and slow motion clips are delivered at a rate of 768 x 432 pixels.
