The HTC Evo 4G smartphone went live on the Sprint wireless system on June 2 of this year. At that time Sprint had not yet rolled out their upcoming 4G LTE network in the United States, but that date came on July 15, and the HTC Evo 4G Android smartphone can finally use its powerful dual core processor to access the speeds that can only be found on true 4G LTE platforms. Delivering the Sense 4.0 user interface and Android 4.0 operating system out-of-the-box, the HTC Evo 4G also contains a handy little feature that makes hands-free viewing of videos and movies a built-in reality.

The HTC Evo 4G is on sale now starting at 79.99.

Web browsing, viewing videos, movies and film recorded on the high-resolution camcorder on the handset is more than enjoyable on the Super IPS LCD2 capacitive touchscreen the handset boasts.A high-end pixel density of 312 pixels per inch gives the huge 4.70 inch screen an overall resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels, one of the best definitions you will find on any smartphone. That display is protected against scratching and chipping by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass, and a handy built-in kickstand on the back of the HTC Evo 4G smartphone makes hands-free viewing a pleasure.

The HTC Evo 4G LTE handset contains an oversized 2,000 mA battery which provides up to 7.50 hours of talk time from a single charge, and the hardware package on board is centered around a Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon microchip package which has at its core a dual core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 Krait processor. A separate GPU handles all graphics processing, the handset comes with 16 GB of storage built-in, and 1.0 GB of RAM system memory. A microSD slot is provided, offering microSDHC support as well, accepting cards up to 32 GB in size.

With one of the first camcorders to offer simultaneous HD video and image recording, the Evo 4G LTE for Sprint records video in 1,080P HD resolution and at 30 frames per second, also in stereo sound. That 8.0 megapixel camcorder benefits from video stabilization and can snap a shot in just 0.7 seconds. A front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam also provides video call support, as well as portrait snapshots.
