The HTC Evo 4G LTE Android smartphone delivers 4G LTE connectivity to Sprint, one of the first handsets to do so. That smartphone launched in June in the United States, and the Sprint 4G LTE network was not yet in place. However, Sprint debuted their system nationwide in the US on July 15, and recently announced the upcoming arrival of 100 additional major Metropolitan areas for 4G LTE access by the end of the year. The handset delivers simultaneous voice and data access, a speedy dual core processor and one of the largest high resolution displays in the entire mobile marketplace, with a unique and handy hands-free viewing feature.

The HTC Evo 4G LTE is on sale now starting at 79.99.

Built into the back of the HTC Evo 4G LTE is a popout kickstand which allows convenient hands-free viewing of videos and movies. The Evo 4G LTE is slim at 0.35 inches (8.9 mm), and weighs roughly 4.73 ounces (134 g). The HTC Sense 4.0 user interface (UI) meshes with Android’s 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system out-of-the-box, and standard multitouch, capacitive gestures are used to navigate that UI. The display on board the handset is a Super IPS LCD2 capacitive touchscreen, rendering visuals in more than 16 million different colors.

At 4.70 inches the display is one of the largest found on any smartphone, and the high-end pixel density of 312 pixels per inch creates one of the highest resolutions for a smartphone display, at 720 x 1,280 pixels overall. A Corning Gorilla Glass overlay protects the screen against scratches and chips, and battery talk time runs approximately 7.50 hours after a single charge of the 2,000 mA battery on board. The hardware package on the handset includes a Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon CPU, which is built around a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait central processor and Adreno 225 GPU. 1.0 GB of RAM memory is on board, as is 16 GB of built-in data storage. A microSD slot also provides microSDHC support, accepting cards up to 32 GB in size.

The camera package on board the handset includes a front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam, and a rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder. That rear snapper provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution and 30 frames per second in stereo sound, with continual video stabilization. Shots can be snapped almost instantly, in only 0.7 seconds, and the f/2.0 lens on board the camera captures approximately 40% more light than standard f/2.4 lenses found on most other high-end smartphones. Simultaneous HD video and image capture is provided, and the front facing chat cam offers video call support.

In the multimedia package on board the HTC Evo 4G LTE handset, the built-in music player supports all major audio file formats, a proprietary YouTube video player has been installed, the Stereo FM radio on board offers RDS song, artist and album display and the full range Beats Audio sound system has been included. The popular online destination Picasa is also pre-installed.
