The HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE smartphone arrived on Verizon’s US 4G LTE network on July 5 just one day after the day when that country celebrates their independence. For smartphone shoppers looking for features like Android’s 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system, a large high-resolution screen, powerful processor and high resolution video capture, the Droid Incredible 4G LTE also offers independence from the generally huge physical form factor that accompanies a smartphone with those particular characteristics. The Droid Incredible 4G LTE handset is exclusive to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system and retails starting at $99 with a standard two-year activation and data plan at select retailers.

The Droid Incredible 4G LTE offers Android’s ICS operating system out-of-the-box with the HTC Sense v4.0 UI Android overlay supporting multitouch, capacitive gestures. The handset is smaller than the average large screen 4G smartphone, measuring 4.82 x 2.40 x 0.46 inches (122 x 61 x 12 mm) and is light at 4.66 ounces (132 g). The 4.00 inch screen delivers 540 x 960 pixels resolution at 275 pixels per inch, and is protected by a scratch resistant layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. Standard light and proximity sensors automatically adjust the display brightness and conserve battery life, and anything displayed on the screen can be delivered to a large screen HDTV or monitor via wireless DLNA connectivity.

With average talk time of 9.57 hours from a single charge of the 1,700 mA battery on board, the handset delivers approximately 20% better performance than the typical 4G smartphone. The HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE Android handset also offers 18.6 days of standby time from a single charge. The hardware package includes a Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon microchip suite that is centered around a dual core 1.2 GHz Krait central processor. A separate Adreno 225 chip handles all graphics processing, 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, and 8.0 GB of data storage are built into the handset. The handset supports both microSD and microSDHC cards up to 32 GB for storage expansion.

HTC was the first smartphone manufacturer to deliver simultaneous HD video and image recording in stereo sound to a mobile handset, and the Droid Incredible 4G LTE handset has that feature. Video capture is provided at 1,080P HD resolution and 30 frames per second from the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder, and the front facing chat cam provides video call support. The handset also offers a Group Shot feature which allows you to take five pictures which are then used to make the best single composite portrait. In the multimedia package on board the handset, a built-in music player joins the Beats Audio sound system and a YouTube video player.  You can buy the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE starting at $99 at select retailers.
