Google Nexus 5 Rolling Out Android KitKat 4.4.2

nexus5newWith one of the largest Full HD displays ever designed for a smartphone, a slim and light design, extremely high pixel density and blazing fast processor, the Google Nexus 5 running on the Sprint 4G LTE network in the US has been a big hit this holiday season. Recently spotted at the Amazon Wireless store online during that companies seasonal holiday sale, the phone is priced at around $15 on contract. Arriving with Google’s 4.4 Android KitKat operating system out-of-the-box, an update to Android 4.4.1 was in the works.

The Google Nexus 5 16GB is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $9.99 – $449.99.

However, it looks like the new 4.4.2 Android OS upgrade is already on the way. Google is pushing out the newer software boost to Nexus devices, and that includes the Sprint Nexus 5. Said to contain security updates, software fixes and other minor tweaks to improve performance, KitKat 4.4.2 is currently on the way to Sprint Nexus 5 devices. Check your notifications, and make sure you have a full battery charge before downloading this OTA transfer.

The Nexus 5 delivers substantial RAM memory, one of the fastest processors currently available on a mobile handset, and high resolution Full HD video capture. The phone is comparatively light in weight and skinny compared to other 5-inchers, delivering a slim 8.59 mm (0.34 inch) profile. The handset weighs just 4.59 ounces (130 g), offering a 5.0 inch IPS LCD Full HD display with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. In what may be the highest pixel density of any current 4G smartphone, 445 pixels are located over each inch of display space, with 16 million colors represented.

Corning has added its third-generation level of scratch resistance to protect your display, and the Google Nexus 5 for Sprint is powered by an extremely fast quad core Snapdragon 800 central processor clocked at 2.3 GHz. An Adreno 330 GPU handles all graphics processing, 2.0 GB of RAM is on board, as is 16 GB of onboard storage. Single charge talk time is excellent at 17.0 hours, with standby time running 12.5 days and wireless charging built-in. DLNA, NFC, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless connectivity options have been included.

Included in the handset’s dual camera package is a rear facing 8.0 megapixel snapper, along with a front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam. The camera up front facing the user can be used for video chat and video calls, with the main snapper on the back providing video capture at the rate of 30 frames per second, and in 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080P Full HD resolution). The rear camera provides customization and personalization options through a self timer, an extra-wide panorama mode, a multishot burst mode and a digital zoom, keeping all your shots in focus with digital image stabilization.
