Amazon Offering Holiday Price on Sprint Google Nexus 5

Amazon is currently the site of the Google Nexus 5 running on the Sprint 4G LTE system in the United States starting at $9.99 on contract. That single digit price tag is excellent this time of year, as Cyber Monday and seasonal shoppers look to extend their holiday dollars. The Google Nexus 5 was made in collaboration with Google and LG, and was released officially on Halloween.

Despite its “birthdate” the handset is all treats and no tricks, offering a very large high-resolution screen, one of the highest pixel densities ever found on a smartphone, ample RAM memory and a speedy quad core processor which may be the fastest of any mobile handset. The Google Nexus 5 for Sprint also delivers the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out-of-the-box. As the first Nexus model to upgrade Nexus camera performance in a significant way, the phone delivers an 8.0 megapixel rear shooter with optical image stabilization, a video light, simultaneous dual recording feature in tandem with the front facing chat cam, and a back illuminated sensor (BSI).

A special effects package is on board, as is an extra-wide panorama mode, high dynamic range mode (HDR), auto and touch to focus, ISO control and white balance presets. That rear snapper is capable of video recording in 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080P HD resolution) and 30 frames per second. The front facing video call capable chat cam has a 1.3 megapixel sensor, and the Google Nexus 5 is slim and light compared to other smartphones with 5.0 inch displays. More than 16 million colors can be found on the IPS LCD touchscreen, which earns a Full HD designation with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. A scratch resistant layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 offers protection against drops and dings, with a full 17.0 hours of talk time delivered from a full battery charge. Wireless charging is built-in to the Google Nexus 5, which is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 system chip.

The quad core Krait 400 CPU has been clocked at a blazing 2.3 GHz, and a powerful Adreno 330 GPU handles graphics processing duties. 16 GB of built-in closet space is on board, as is 2.0 GB of productivity enhancing, multitasking RAM memory. Providing wireless access are Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n channels, DLNA and NFC technologies. The Google Nexus 5 running on Sprint’s 4G LTE system supports voice dialing, voice commands and voice recording, and comes equipped with light, proximity, accelerometer, gyroscope, compass and barometer sensors, as well as a built-in step detector and counter.
