Back in the day, about a year ago to be exact, Box.com announced that LG Android devices in US shores, so long as they are running Android 2.1 or higher, can take advantage of a Box Personal account with a free 50GB of cloud storage. The announcement was made over the official blog post of the company where it offered 50GB of free extra storage until December 31, 2012 and we quote, “Want to claim your Box 50GB? Just log into Box for Android on your device before December 31, 2012. If you don’t have a Box account yet, be sure to download the app on your LG Android phone or tablet. You’ll have 50GB of free, secure file storage and sharing for the life of your account.

And though the Nexus 4, the latest Google flagship device, is being sold through the Google Play Store and is actually a Google developer device, it is manufacturer by LG and the big question is whether the handset can also take advantage of this offer from Box.com. The answer is a resounding YES as proven by ap27, a senior member of XDA Developers. According to ap27, he was able to use his LG Nexus 4 in taking advantage of the offer where he got an upgrade from 25GB to a whopping 50GB after he downloaded the Box app and logging in.

With the LG Nexus 4 not having a microSD slot anywhere in its chassis to enable memory expansion coupled with the fact that the options for its onboard storage (8GB and 16GB) are not exactly very generous when you come to think of it, this offer of 50GB of free Box.net cloud storage is great news indeed. Users of the 8GB version of the LG Nexus 4 would definitely be jumping for joy with this development as that 50GB of free Box.net storage will enable them to free up the space in their handsets and instead save files that should have went to the storage space of the smartphone on the cloud instead where it is also virtually within reach.

As for the LG Nexus 4, the handset was unveiled last October during the height of Hurricane Sandy’s fury and it finally made its debut in the shelves a couple of days back. The handset is already running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the latest iteration of the Google mobile operating system and this is powered by a QualComm APQ8064 Snapdragon chipset with a quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a whopping 2GB of RAM. As mentioned earlier, storage space on the handset ranges from 8GB to a max of 16GB with no memory expansion option on the device. Its display on the other hand is a 4.7-inch True HD IPS Plus capacitive multitouch panel with a 1280 x 768 resolution while its camera department boasts of a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP video chat and self-portrait snapper.
