As of the moment, the latest Google flagship device is the LG Nexus 4 and as Google developer devices go, the handset is also expected to be first in line whenever Google is set to rollout platform upgrades and software updates. This is because the handset comes with a pure Vanila-based, fully stock version of the Android operating system with no overlaid custom user interfaces that could mess up and interfere (and of course, unnecessarily delay) the update process. And with the LG Nexus 4 rocking Android 4.2 Jelly Bean for its OS, the latest version of the Android mobile operating system, it is only natural that the handset is the talk of the Android town as of the moment.

We’ve hear a lot of good things about the LG Nexus 4 and how a big upgrade it is over the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, its predecessor, but as things go in the smartphone competition, no handset is ever perfect – the LG Nexus 4 included. In fact, there are already a couple of bugs plaguing the handset that made it to the news such as its missing month of December. In addition to that, there are also a couple of reports about power management troubles being encountered by the handset. This is pretty normal and sooner or later, all of these will get taken care of by software updates.

The latest issue on the LG Nexus 4 concerns its earpiece and the shielding problems it may have. As it stands, several users of the handset have already reported that they are hearing some low-level output from the earpiece of the LG Nexus 4. These users have described this low-level output as approximating a faint buzz or a click usually heard coming from the handset’s earpiece or camera area while other users on the other hand are reporting distorted calls at high volumes.

In cases like this, we always hope that the problem is software-related so that it can easily be fixed by a simple software update. But if this turns out to be a shielding problem which is more concerned with the hardware side of the handset that deals with its electronics, there might be a chance that affected units could get recalled. Though a lot of LG Nexus 4 users have reported the issue, there is still a chance that the problem is limited to a particular production run and is not as widespread as we think it is.

As for the LG Nexus 4, the handset’s circuitry revolves around its QualComm APQ8064 SnapDragon chipset which comes with a quad-core Krait processor clocked at 1.5 GHz. This processor works in partnership with a staggering 2GB of RAM to ensure that the performance of the handset is always snappy and lag-free. As for its storage space, the LG Nexus 4 can be had in an 8GB and a 16GB version but there is no option for memory expansion here. Its display on the other hand is a 4.7-inch True HD IPS Plus panel with a 1280 x 768 resolution while its dual-shooter configuration comes with a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP snapper.
