Back in March, an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich build for the HTC Rezound 4G surfaced. At that time, the said ICS ROM was reportedly a release candidate and is already a near-final build which got pundits speculate that the official ICS update for the handset is already looming in the horizon. Sad to say, until now, users of the handset are still waiting for Verizon and HTC to rollout the ICS refresh for the device. Just recently however, there were a couple of reports that Verizon is already in the final stages of testing the ICS update for the handset and the testing is projected to be completed by May 7. And even better is that the ICS update, the official one that is, is going to hit the airwaves by May 9 which is barely a week from now.

The source of these reports is a screenshot of an internal Verizon system that pretty much indicates the software updates and upgrades that the wireless provider has outlined. Before the supposed May 9 rollout of ICS for the HTC Rezound 4G (if that rumor pans out, that is) is to happen, another ICS build for the handset has surfaced. This is the second release candidate to find its way to the internet and if this is any indication, the possibility of a May 9 official ICS update release for the HTC Rezound 4G just became stronger.

This recent ICS build for the handset has a version of 3.13.605.7 and brings to the table a new radio baseband for the HTC Rezound 4G. This may be a release candidate but it still is not official so there is still the off-chance that it still has bugs and could possibly damage your handset. If tinkering with your HTC Rezound 4G is nothing new for you, you might want to give this ICS build a shot but be reminded of the risks involved such as turning your warranty to toast or worse, turning your HTC Rezound 4G to an expensive paper weight. If you are not sure of what to do, we suggest that you just wait for the official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the HTC Rezound 4G to be released by Verizon and hopefully, you don’t have to wait too long for that to happen.

In the meantime, let us check the specs sheet of the handset to while away the time. The HTC Rezound 4G relies on a QualComm MSM8660 SnapDragon chipset to power its operation while a combination of a dual-core 1.5 GHz Scorpion processor and 1GB of RAM deliver the computing muscle needed by the handset. Its storage space on the other hand is pegged at 16GB and if this is not enough, Verizon has included an extra 16GB microSD card on the retail package of the handset for memory expansion purposes.

The display of the HTC Rezound 4G is a 4.3-inch SUperLCD multitouch panel with a 1280 x 720 resolution. Not only that, the handset also packs support for Beats Audio integration for a better sound quality while its camera department on the other hand is composed of a rear 8MP shooter with 1080p video capture and a front-facing 2MP video call and self-portrait camera.  Buy the HTC Rezound starting at $99.
