The HTC Evo 4G  LTE Android smartphone debuted on the Sprint network in the United States on June 2. However at that time, Sprint was still building and designing their nationwide 4G LTE system. That speedy new network launched on July 15, and the HTC Evo 4G  LTE can now properly use its powerful processor on that quicker platform. Android’s 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system is present out-of-the-box, and couples with the HTC Sense 4.0 UI Android overlay, accepting multitouch, capacitive gestures for device navigation. Thin and light compared to other handsets, the HTC Evo 4G  LTE delivers a powerful dual core processor, a large high-resolution screen and high resolution video recording.

The HTC Evo 4G LTE is on sale now starting at $49.99.

Measuring 5.31 x 2.71 x 0.35 inches (134.8 x 68.9 x 8.9 mm) and weighing 4.73 ounces (134 g), the handset contains a convenient kickstand which allows for hands-free viewing of videos and movies. The 4.70 inch Super IPS LCD2 capacitive touchscreen shows visuals in more than 16 million colors, with a pixel density of 312 pixels per inch. That high-end resolution compared to other handsets results in an overall screen resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. A layer of Corning Gorilla Glass offers glare reduction and screen protection.

The hardware package on board centers around a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait processor that joins a graphics specific Adreno 225 chip in the Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon microchip package on board the handset. The HTC Evo 4G LTE smartphone comes with 1.0 GB of RAM system memory and 16 GB of storage built-in. The microSD slot on board supports microSDHC cards as well, up to 32 GB in size.

Up front you will find a 1.3 megapixel chat cam, and on the back of the handset is a high resolution 8.0 megapixel camcorder. That rear device is capable of capturing snapshots while simultaneously recording high definition 1,080P HD video in stereo sound. Snapshot image capture is available almost instantly, in just 0.7 seconds. The front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam can provide video call support, as well as take portrait snapshots.

The multimedia package on board the HTC Evo 4G LTE smartphone for Sprint contains a YouTube video player and comes with a pre-installed music player which supports all audio file formats. The full range Beats Audio sound system is also on board, and the handset contains a Stereo FM radio with RDS which displays music and album selection as well as other related info.
