Debuting on June 2 and exclusive to that carrier, Sprint Wireless recently dropped the retail price of the handset to around $129 on contract at select retailers. The HTC Evo 4G LTE continues the popularity and sales success of past Evo handsets, and delivers Android’s 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system, the full range Beats Audio sound system, a large high-resolution screen and speedy dual core processor.

The handset measures 5.31 x 2.71 x 0.35 inches (134.8 x 68.9 x 8.9 mm) and weighs 4.73 ounces (134 g), and arrives in the typical rectangular, slab, candy bar form factor. Aiding in the ability to watch videos and movies hands-free is the built-in kickstand on the back of the handset which displays the touchscreen in landscape orientation. That display runs 720 x 1,280 pixels, and at 4.7 inches is one of the largest found on any 4G smartphone. Pixel density runs 312 pixels per inch, and the HTC Sense UI v4.0 ICS overlay is used to navigate the handset. Visuals are rendered in more than 16 million different colors, and the Super IPS LCD2 screen is protected by a scratch resistant layer of Corning Gorilla Glass.

The HTC Evo 4G LTE contains a built-in 2000 mA battery that delivers 7.50 hours of talk time from a single charge. Also present in the hardware package is a Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon suite of microchips that centers around the dual core 1.5 GHz Krait central processor. An Adreno 225 GPU focuses on all graphics processing, and 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is also present. A microSD slot also provides microSDHC support and accepts cards up to 32 GB.

The Evo 4G LTE handset contains both a rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder and front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam. That front snapper can be used for video calls as well as portrait snapshots, and the rear mounted camcorder provides simultaneous HD video and image recording in stereo sound. Geo-tagging, face and smile detection and a special effects package join a back illuminated sensor (BSI), CMOS image sensor, high dynamic range mode (HDR) and digital zoom in the features package. Video capture is provided at 1,080P HD resolution and 30 frames per second, and a Stereo FM radio with RDS joins the Beats Audio sound package, a built-in music player and a YouTube video player in the multimedia suite on board the device.  Buy the HTC Evo 4G LTE starting at $129.
