gs5Since the Consumer Electronics Show it has been widely known that the Samsung Galaxy S5 is coming sooner than later, now it is just a matter of when for those that live in the United States.  Rumors are pointing to a release date that will be within the next couple months and the device is expected to arrive for all of the major mobile carriers right away.  The device is expected to replace the Galaxy S4 that launched early last year and quickly became one of the most popular smartphones on the market.

Samsung is doing what it can to keep consumers aware of the release date for the brand new version of the popular Galaxy smartphone.  The new Samsung phone is likely to be one of the most powerful on the market and will easily compete with the iPhone 5S, Galaxy Note 3, HTC One and many more.  The iPhone 6 is going to be one of the most anticipated smartphones as usual and the rumors are pointing to the fact that Samsung’s Galaxy S5 could compete with that as well.  The initial rumors point to the fact that the Galaxy S5 will be coming in both metal and plastic models for the first time.

Typically, the Galaxy smartphone was always sold in plastic only, but the demand for a higher end smartphone with an all metal design is putting more pressure on Samsung for the Galaxy S5 launch.  The device is expected to support a 5.25-inch qHD display with a resolution that is at least 1080p.  The processor is going to be a new one, which could be a 64-bit build to compete with the new A7 from Apple.  A quad-core processor from Qualcomm is expected, but the company could go with an Exynos 6 processor.

The camera is expected to be a 16MP model with new features that will go with the new user interface options and the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.  Those waiting for the new smartphone in the United States will be getting a tease as usually there is an international version released before the one that comes here.  By the time that the release date comes along, Samsung will likely be releasing that information so that users can be ready to shop if they are looking to upgrade to the new model.
