samsungSamsung has more popular phones on the market than any other company in the United States and the Galaxy S4 was certainly one on that list.  Since the Galaxy S5 is about to launch in a couple of months, rumors have been floating around that Samsung could also be ready to release a Windows Phone powered device.  The rumors picked up a little this week as information was found online from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group certification documents.  The information, which gives the Samsung name and a model number, are shining a light on the possibility of a new phone that was just a rumor a week ago.

The information in the documents is nothing very revealing, however, a smartphone with the model number SM-W750 will be coming with a 5-inch display and a resolution of 1080×1920.  Those specs match what you can find on the Galaxy S4 today, so that has many expecting that this device could be one inspired in design from the fourth generation Galaxy smartphone, only powered by the Windows Phone operating software.  Just having a 1080p HD resolution will allow the smartphone to compete with newer models from Nokia.

Microsoft just added support for quad-core processors and 1080p HD resolutions, so that might be the reason that Samsung is ready to jump in line and make a smartphone powered by Windows Phone software.  This is not the first time that Samsung has developed a Windows Phone device, but it will be the first since the ATIV models launched.  Any new Windows Phone device would likely be under the ATIV brand name and they are likely to launch on the AT&T and Sprint networks first, just like the other Windows Phone handsets did.

The new device will also be supporting LTE connections, but it is unclear how many of the networks the phone will actually work on.  In the meantime, it looks like Samsung is going to be using whatever specs it can to compete in the market with other Windows Phone powered devices.  As of right now, Nokia has the largest portion of that market and in order for Samsung to compete, it might have to start looking at new cameras for the smartphones it makes.  Just having a quad-core processor and 1080p HD support is a start, but with the market moving quickly, the company might want to try and get out ahead of the others.
