Verizon’s Motorola Droid Razr HD Finally Jelly Bean Ready

droidrazrhdThe Motorola Droid Razr HD is currently retailing for under $150 on contract during the Amazon Wireless holiday sales event online. That handset was launched on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in October of this year, and is delivered in your choice of either black or white. Delivering NFC (Near Field Communications) support out-of-the-box for popular applications like Android Beam and Google Wallet, the Motorola Droid Razr HD improves display resolution by a full 33% over previous Droid Razr models.

Screen size has also grown from 4.3 inches to 4.7 inches, and the handset is still slim in the Droid Razr tradition at 0.33 inches (8.4 mm) in thickness. Recently receiving an over the air transfer to the Jelly Bean 4.1 Android operating system, the Motorola Droid Razr HD 4G Android smartphone delivers a unique SmartActions feature that allows you to set battery saving rules for your handset. Battery conservation continues thanks to power saving light and proximity sensors, and this helps the 2,530 mA battery which is 40% larger than that found on the Droid Razr 4G to deliver a full 16.0 hours of talk time.

A full 10.0 hours of playing videos, 20.0 hours of listening to your favorite streaming music and 6.0 hours of web surfing with 4G LTE speeds is also offered from a single battery charge. Standby time runs approximately 12.0 days, and the Super AMOLED display delivers a 720 x 1,280 pixel resolution. Pixel density runs high at 312 pixels per inch, and more than 16 million colors are present on that display. A scratch resistant layer of Corning Gorilla Glass protects the screen against your everyday scratches and chips, and DLNA technology provides video out.

Motorola chose a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 microchip package to power the Motorola Droid Razr HD 4G handset, centered around a central processor with dual cores that has been clocked at 1.5 GHz. An Adreno 225 GPU frees up the responsibilities of the CPU by handling all graphics processing, and 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board. The handset also delivers 16 GB of built-in storage, and a microSD slot for storage expansion.

A front facing chat cam joins a rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder in the camera combo on board the Droid Razr HD, and that rear snapper provides a built-in LED flash, autofocus, touch to focus, face detection and image stabilization features. Video recording is capable at 1,080P HD resolution, and the front facing chat cam can also provides video call support. The Chrome for Android web browser has been preloaded, as have YouTube and Picasa applications.
