The Droid Razr HD 4G Android smartphone delivers one of the highest resolution screens that Motorola has ever designed, and the handset also borrows popular features from previous Droid Razr models. Launched in October of this year, the Droid Razr HD runs on the 4G LTE system of Verizon, the company which Consumer Reports just called last week the top wireless service provider in the United States. Slim and long-lasting, the Droid Razr HD is currently listed at a holiday sale price of around $149 on contract at select retailers online.

Offered in your choice of either white or black, the handset currently is undergoing an update to the Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system. In the works for some time, the Jelly Bean upgrade for the Droid Razr HD was announced on November 30 by Verizon, and that wireless service provider said the update should be rolling out the first week of December. The handset delivers the Chrome for Android web browser pre-installed, and Motorola’s SmartActions application allows you to set battery saving rules for your Razr HD.

The Droid Razr HD delivers the familiar DuPont Kevlar fiber and splash-proof nanocoating durability of previous Droid Razr models, as well as a scratch resistant Gorilla Glass overlay. Borrowing the skinny profile of the original Droid Razr 4G, the handset is slim at 0.33 inches (8.4 mm). The 4.7 inch display is the largest currently offered by a Motorola Droid Razr device, and pixel density runs to the high-end at 312 pixels per inch. More than 16 million colors are present, and resolution runs 720 x 1,280 pixels.

Light and proximity sensors help the oversized 2,530 mA battery on board the Droid Razr HD handset deliver extreme battery performance in the Droid Razr tradition. 16.0 hours of talk time, 10.0 hours of video playback viewing, 20.0 hours of listening to your favorite streaming music, or 6.0 hours of web browsing with 4G LTE speeds is possible from a single battery charge. The hardware package is centered around a dual core 1.5 GHz CPU and 1.0 GB of RAM system memory, with 16 GB of storage built in and a microSD slot for storage expansion.

YouTube and Picasa preloads are present, and the Droid Razr HD delivers a built-in music player as well. The handset provides Near Field Communications (NFC) support out-of-the-box, with a rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder recording video in a high resolution 1,080P HD. Video calls can be placed with the front facing chat cam, and DLNA wireless connectivity provides video out options.
