The Galaxy line of handsets for smartphone manufacturer Samsung has been incredibly successful. Well received by both industry analysts and smartphone shoppers, the most recent iteration in that Android lineup is the Samsung Galaxy S III. Following the Galaxy S II global success which saw more than 50 million units of those handsets sold, the Galaxy S III has had no problem picking right up where its predecessor left off. The Galaxy S III has sold more than 10 million units in less than its first two months of availability, averaging an impressive 190,000 units sold per day.

The Samsung Galaxy S III for Veirzon is on sale now starting at 149.99.

Globally successful in general, the handset has also been massively popular in the United States specifically, outselling the iPhone 4S recently. That is the word from Canaccord Genuity tech analyst T. Michael Walkley, who recently announced his findings from his monthly monitoring of multiple retail outlets in the United States. He stated that he believes this is the first time since the iPhone 4S launched in October 2011 that a single handset was able to dethrone the popular Apple smartphone in US sales for a one-month time frame.

Offered by multiple wireless carriers in the United States, the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III is popular for having one of the largest screens in the entire smartphone marketplace and delivering Android’s 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system out-of-the-box. The GS III also offers wireless support for applications like Android Beam and Google Wallet thanks to its Near Field Communications (NFC) technology.

The handset also offers the ability to simultaneously record HD video and images, and provides rapid-fire image capture for multiple pictures at three images per second with zero shutter lag, using its Burst Shot feature. The rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder also delivers a Best Shot application, recommending the best picture you have taken based on lighting, clarity and colors. That rear facing camcorder records video in 1,080P HD resolution, and has a built-in LED flash and a backside illuminated sensor (BSI) for low light video and image capture.

The Galaxy S III measures 5.39 x 2.80 x 0.34 inches (137 x 71 x 8.6 mm) and weighs 4.70 ounces (133 g), thin and light when compared to all other 4G smartphones. The 4.80 inch Super AMOLED display is one of the largest to be found on a smartphone, and the pixel density of 316 pixels per inch is high as well. That results in an overall display resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels, and that display is protected by a scratch resistant layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2. The Samsung Galaxy S III is one of the first smartphones with 2.0 GB of RAM system memory, and a powerful 1.5 GHz dual core central processor is on board.

Buy the Samsung Galaxy S III for Verizon now starting at 149.99.
