Verizon Galaxy S III 4G Offered in 16GB, 32GB Models, Priced to Sell

Online wireless retailer Wirefly is currently offering the Verizon Galaxy S III 4G Android smartphone in both 16 GB and 32 GB models. Priced around $149 and $199 on contract respectively, the Galaxy S III debuted on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States on July 12. The most recent in an extremely successful lineup of Galaxy smartphones, the Galaxy S III launches on the heels of the Galaxy S II which has sold more than 50 million units globally thus far. The GS III wasted no time in not only duplicating but improving on that sales success, selling more than 20 million units in only its first 100 days of global availability.

Samsung reported a record $7.3 billion in operating profits for their third quarter this year, and shipped more than twice as many handsets as their top competitor Apple. Much of that operating profit was due to the extremely successful launch of the Galaxy S III , and the handset delivers the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system out-of-the-box a with an upgrade to the Jelly Bean 4.1 OS in the works. The 4.80 inch Super AMOLED screen is one of the largest found on any smartphone, and visuals are represented in more than 16 million separate colors. High-end pixel density of 306 pixels per inch gives the handset an overall screen resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels.

When operating in the Verizon Wireless LTE network coverage areas, the 2,100 mA battery of the Samsung Galaxy S III delivers up to 15.0 hours from a single charge. The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 microchip package which is centered around a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait central processor and Adreno 225 GPU. The handset delivers twice the average RAM memory of a 4G smartphone at 2.0 GB, and a 4G best 32 GB of built-in data storage are present.

The handset is capable of high resolution video recording at 1,080P HD with the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder, and a front facing VGA quality chat cam is also on board, offering video call support. The camcorder’s Share Shot camera feature allows you to set up a temporary photo sharing network with other Galaxy S III handset owners. The Verizon Galaxy S III offers Near Field Communications (NFC) support out-of-the-box, delivering wireless retail payment possibilities through applications like Google Wallet, as well as offering wireless data share apps access through Android S Beam.
