galaxynexusAs new smartphones are released to wireless carriers, it only makes sense that some current smartphones have to make way. This allows smartphone manufacturers to debut new high-tech features and higher-priced handsets. Verizon recently gave their flagship Galaxy Nexus 4G Android smartphone an End of Life designation, meaning that they would quit shipping the handset to retail outlets, slowly phasing out the product from their offerings.

Sprint however has decided to stick with the popular Galaxy Nexus 4G, and the handset was currently discovered at the Amazon Wireless store for $0.01 on contract. This is the first smartphone to deliver the Android 4.0 operating system to the United States way back in December of 2011, and surprisingly the hardware, software and features offered by the more than one year old handset are still viable in today’s smartphone marketplace.

The Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G delivers a large screen and one of the highest resolutions of any smartphone in the entire mobile marketplace. And with Sprint recently updating the handset to their Android 4.2 operating system as well as debuting their faster 4G LTE network in the US, the Galaxy Nexus 4G seems to have discovered the fountain of youth. A powerful dual core processor, NFC wireless support out-of-the-box and high resolution video capture are all hallmarks of this flagship Sprint smartphone.

The Galaxy Nexus handset hit the Sprint 3G network on April 22 of last year, and this new 4G LTE system is up to 10 times as fast, according to Sprint. The handset offers simultaneous voice and data access. This means that if you are browsing the web, downloading an application or checking your e-mail, you do not have to stop what you are doing to answer a voice call. One of the first smartphones to deliver an exceptionally slim profile, the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G measures only 0.37 inches (9.47 mm) in thickness.

The 4.65 inch display is still one of the largest found in the entire smartphone marketplace, and delivers exceptionally high resolution and pixel density. 316 pixels per inch allow for a display resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels, with more than 16 million colors displayed. On the Sprint 4G LTE system, up to 8.0 hours of talk time are supplied from a single battery charge, and the Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 microchip package is centered around a dual core 1.2 GHz CPU. A full 32 GB of storage are built-in, and 1.0 GB of RAM memory is on board. The rear facing 5.0 megapixel camcorder records your video memories in 1,080P HD resolution.
