droidultrabThe Motorola Droid Ultra 4G has finally arrived, and is running exclusively on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States. The handset was unveiled at an exclusive press event in New York City last month, alongside its siblings, the Droid Mini and the Droid Maxx smartphones. Released in an ultrathin format, the Motorola Droid Ultra 4G is slimmer in stature than the skinny Galaxy S4, the thin Apple iPhone 5, the HTC One and virtually all other smartphones.

The Motorola Droid Ultra can be pre-ordered at select online retailers starting at $149.99, which is a savings of up to $50 over carrier prices.

When Motorola first started its skinny smartphone manufacturing tricks, it came out with the Droid Razr 4G, which measured a wafer-thin 7.1 mm (0.28 inches) in thickness. At the time it was launched it was far and away the skinniest smartphone ever designed, but had nowhere near the power or functionality of the new Motorola Droid Ultra 4G. Incredibly enough, the Droid Ultra also measures a nearly invisible 7.1 mm (0.28 inches) in profile, but also delivers a large 5.0 inch display, 2.0 GB of RAM memory, 1.7 GHz CPU, 10.0 megapixel rear camera and custom Motorola X8 Mobile Computing System.

The phone also delivers 720 by 1,280 pixel resolution for a 720P designation touchscreen, and a special Motorola Migrate application which will help you transfer files from your old handset to your new Motorola Droid Ultra. The app allows you to seamlessly transfer media, calls and text history, as well as SIM contacts, and joins Droid Zap as one of the special features found on this new line of Motorola handsets.

Droid Zap sounds like an application which shocks you when you use it, but it is actually an app which is built directly onto the new Android smartphones. Imagine wirelessly sharing videos and photos with other Android smartphones and devices within 1,000 feet of your present location, and you have an idea of the power of the Droid Zap feature. And the new Motorola Connect allows Droid Ultra handset owners a Chrome extension that delivers you certain notifications even when you are away from your handset.

Using only your computer, you are able to view incoming calls and text messages, ignore calls, read messages and even respond to text messages. And the Wireless Display feature on the Motorola Droid Ultra allows you to stream content to Miracast-compatible HDTVs. The phone also delivers a “quick capture” camera feature, and the Motorola Droid Ultra 4G launched on August 20 in the United States, and retails for around $199 on contract. You can pre-order the Motorola Droid Ultra 4G for a discounted price tag starting at $149.99.
