Touch-screen devices with a screen size of five inches or more are called Phablets. Verizon is flooding the market with a lot of phablets. At present LG’s Intuition is the only phablet in BigRed’s line up but very soon we are going to see two more of them. There will be soon a Verizon branded Samsung GALAXY Note II and rumours are flooding about a monster HTC 5 inch Phablet with a 1080p screen.
The HTC device will have a model number of HTC 6435LVW. A source at HTC mentioned of the device as a Dlx which could be HTC DROID Incredible X. A DROID because it is said to emit the familiar droid sound for notifications and a colour scheme of red and black make it a part of the DROID series.
Now let us talk about what we have heard the phone. As mentioned already it has a 5 inch screen with a 1080p resolution. It works out to a pixel density of 480 ppi which is well ahead of Retina display. Talking about the soul of the phone, it comes with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with a RAM of 1.5 GB and an internal storage of 16 GB. Probably it comes with a second notification light on its back so that you can be alerted even if you have kept your phone the other way round.
Now nothing is all good, talking about the bad is that the phone may not come with a Micro SD slot and unlike other phone of its kind it doesn’t come with a pen for random scribbling on the screen. Even the stylus for HTC Flyer fails to work up the screen. The phone is also going to forgo the provision of a removable battery.
The phone is going to face competition from the LG Intuition 4G LTE and the Samsung GALAXY Note Phablets, and is probably powerful than them but the micro SD slot problem, and the light pen may repel some customers. HTC might introduce this model at its event on the 19th of September and customers will be happy of having some competition among the phablets as it presents them with choice and contains costs.
