For the longest time, the smartphone-buying population in US shores wanting a niche device had the Samsung Galaxy Note as their only possible choice. Not that it is a bad choice, it isn’t. In fact, the Samsung phablet is one of the better-performing and bestselling devices over at AT&T which released the handset in our side of the world early this year. Since then, the carrier already had exclusivity over the Samsung Galaxy Note until recently when T-Mobile launched its variant of the phablet.

However, it looks like the Samsung phablet is about to get a competitor in the form of the LG Optimus Vu. Word on the street is that Verizon is preparing to release the LG phablet in US shores and these rumors have been around for quite some time now. To add fuel to the fire, mug shots of an LG Optimus Vu with Verizon branding even surfaced in the past and to further strengthen the speculations, LG confirmed that an LTE-capable variant of the Optimus Vu is scheduled to be released in US shores this quarter.

However, it looks like the Optimus Vu will be released by Verizon under a different name. Our sources have managed to get their hands on a leaked document which specifies that the device will be launched as the Verizon LG Intuition and will come with a $199.99 on-contract price. If you are averse to getting tied down to Verizon for two more years, prepare to shell out $549.99 to get your hands on a contract-free LG Intuition.

As for the LG Intuition, it basically has the same resume as the Optimus Vu. Owing to its massive screen real estate, the device is a bit bulky and hefty but is actually very slim for a smartphone its size. Its full dimensions come up to 139.6 x 90.4 x 8.5 mm and it tips the scales at 168 grams. Of course, like any LG smartphone we have used in the past, the LG Intuition also has the solid build quality and is actually very comfortable to hold in the hands even for extended periods despite its size.

Under the hood, the LG Intuition is expected to ship with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich although it hasn’t been confirmed yet if an upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is scheduled for the LG phablet. The chipset and processor of the LG Intuition hasn’t been confirmed as of the moment but our sources are telling us that it will most likely be a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor with a chipset that supports the LTE network of Verizon. System memory on the device is a standard 1GB of RAM while its storage space is pegged at a generous 32GB. Sad to say, there is no option for memory expansion on the LG Intuition. As for its display, the LG Intuition packs a 5.0-inch HD-IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels while its camera department features a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP snapper.
