lgg2The LG G2 offers one of the fastest central processors a smartphone has ever seen, the highest pixel density in the industry at 423 ppi, a high-performance camera and innovative design and sound features. The handset also recently received a financial gift by several wireless carriers in the United States. Verizon, AT&T and Sprint have priced the handset beginning at $00.01 on contract when you purchase through the Amazon Wireless store online.

This low-priced retail will no doubt boost sales on the handset, which is also receiving another boost of a different type currently. LG G2 owners in South Korea have already begun to receive the Android version 4.4 operating system named KitKat on their handsets. Recent announcements by LG and Google show that the Android KitKat operating system upgrade will probably arrive in the first quarter of 2014 to be certain, and possibly as early as mid to late January in the Great White North and the United States.

Android 4.4 KitKat is set to deliver enhancements for printing photos, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi boosts and Google Cloud access for applications previously not supported there. Google Hangouts will now support integrated SMS/MMS messaging, and photo editing options and filter effects have been added to the gallery application. The LG G2 4.4 Android operating system update will also include an improved phone dialer, touch to focus enhancements to the handset’s main camera, and retooled status and navigation bars.

With volume and power buttons on the back of the phone below the camera’s sensor, which LG discovered results in far fewer phone drops, the handset is uniquely designed. Music lovers and those who demand excellent sound quality from their smartphone will appreciate that the LG G2 now features 24-bit/192 kHz Hi-Fi playback that reproduces studio quality sound, far superior to that of a CD.

That powerful sound is supported by a 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU and 2.0 GB of RAM memory, and also in the sound department LG has included Dolby Mobile audio enhancement and a Stereo FM radio with RDS display capabilities. A slim phone measuring just 8.9 mm (0.35 inches) in thickness, the LG G2 offers a large 5.20 inch Full HD-IPS + LCD display with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. The rear facing 13.0 megapixel snapper is capable of recording video in Full HD 1,080P resolution and in stereo sound, and can simultaneously record high definition video and still imagery.
