lgg2The LG G2 brought a few different features to the G series smartphones by LG and now it looks like it is in line for the Android 4.4 KitKat software.  The update has not landed in the United States yet, but for one carrier, that is reportedly about to change.  The LG G2 came with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean pre-installed on it and that is the current state.  The Jelly Bean software is getting quite old and has been on the market since 2012 when the Nexus 4 launched in the Google Play Store.

Most of the time, the international mobile carriers are going to see the updates before we do in the United States and that is the case with the LG G2 as well.  A mobile carrier in France has claimed that the Android 4.4 update is scheduled to rollout on the 28th of this month.  This is actually only a couple of days after the start of the Mobile World Congress event that is held in Spain every year.  LG will be at the show and many are expecting to see the LG G2 Mini showcased at that time.

The LG G2 Mini is expected to have Android 4.4 KitKat pre-installed on the device and it is because of that, that many are expecting the LG G2 be updated as well.  The only LG G2 that has been updated is the one on the AT&T network.  The company sent out Android 4.2.2, which included “FOTA enhancement to support future updates” and that is just a subtle hint at what is coming in the future.  If the update starts to rollout on the 28th overseas, then those in the United States waiting for it will not have to wait that much longer.

In the United States, mobile carriers talk less about the updates right up until they are ready to be pushed out to users.  The LG G2 is currently sold on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and the Verizon Wireless network, so users might not hear about it until the notification is sent out on the phone.  The LG G2 will join a small group of non-Nexus branded devices to be updated including the HTC One, Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4.  The Android 4.4 KitKat update brings a host of enhancements and features, but has also cause minor bugs with certain handsets.
