tegranotetabletIt was about one month ago when the first instance of the “Tegra Tab” was tossed around by consumers speculating and “hearing” about the possibility that Nvidia was ready to make its own tablet powered by the super fast Tegra chipsets.  As far as most of us can tell, the “Tegra Tab” is the real deal as Nvidia announced today that it would be getting ready to sell the Tegra Note and even though it was not exactly given a release date, it will be nice to see another option in the growing tablet market.

According to the company, the Tegra Note is a full platform device that has been designed in-house and then will be distributed by Nvidia’s partners to the marketplace.  The company goes on to explain that the Tegra Note “embodies the Nvidia brand” and will be getting over-the-air updates directly from the company.  The Tegra Note features a 7-inch touch screen IPS display with a 1280×800 resolution.  The back side has a 5MP camera installed on it for pictures and video recording with a smaller VGA camera that could work for video chatting.  The internal memory starts out at 16GB, which should be a good place to start, but a microSD card slot is there in case you need to expand that memory at all.

The Tegra Note runs 100 percent on Android and will be running “the latest version of the OS” according to the company.  The new 7-inch tablet is due to arrive sometime next month and when it does, there will be a price tag on it that reads $199.  That price is very affordable in the smaller tablet market, since the iPad Mini will be closer to $400 and the Google Nexus 7 II is priced at $349 for a 32GB model.

Amazon is really the only other company that is selling a 7-inch tablet that might be worth buying and they have the price right around the same, $199.  The Tegra Note is also going to come with some accessories that include a slide cover and a DirectStylus Pro Pack that feature a stylus that comes with interchangeable tips.  The Tegra Note is certainly going to be able to give the Nexus and Kindle Fire HD tablets a run and might even be able to keep up with Apple.  One thing is for sure, it is nice to have more options for the consumer.
