In terms of LTE coverage in US shores, Verizin is well ahead of the rat race among wireless providers to blanket our side of the world with 4G LTE connecitivity. Hot on its heels is AT&T with its ever-expanding coverage while Sprint already made known its plans to light up its LTE network later this year. Back in January, the wireless provider already announced that the initial LTE markets that it will cover will include San Antonio, Houston, Dallas and Atlanta.

In addition to that, several internal documents from the wireless provider surfaced which indicated that Sprint is already in the process of testing its LTE network in several more markets which include the California towns of Stockton and Rialto, New York, Nashville, Fort Worth, Chicago and Akron. It was reported in the past that the wireless provider has started the upgrade of its network in these places and the leaked internal document says that some of the work that needs to be done have been completed way ahead of schedule. What does this mean for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the current Google flagship handset that Sprint will launch on April 22?

This simply means that despite being launched as the premier LTE smartphone of Sprint even if the LTE network of the wireless carrier hasn’t been lit up yet, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will already have a lot of LTE playground to show its wares off once the carrier turns on the switch of its LTE network. Of course, unprecedented mobile browsing speeds is already a given in this type of network but aside from that, the Sprint variant of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will also come with NFC support out of the box. This means that you could already put to good use that Google Wallet account and to even make the deal sweeter, your Google wallet account will get an instant $10 credit with another $40 to follow within 3 weeks of activating your handset with the Sprint network. While waiting for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus to finally hit the shelves of Sprint on April 22 and for its LTE network to get lit up, let us get up close and personal with the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Nexus by going through its specs sheet below.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is pure power under the hood with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for its operating system out of the box. The operation of the handset draws power from its Texas Instruments OMAP4460 chipset and all the heavy lifting for the exceptional performance of the handset is done by its 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor and 1GB of RAM. The storage space of the handset, though non-expandable comes up to a very generous 32GB while its 4.65-inch SuperAMOLED display with its curved design packs a 1280 x 720 resolution. The only point of criticism for the handset is its camera department with only a 5MP rear shooter and a 1.3MP front-facer. Both shooters are capable of video recording though to make up for the lower sensor resolution rate.
